I wasn't sure what type of safe to purchase...one like this one or a much heavier safe that someone would have needed to deliver and install. I'm glad I chose this one. This is perfect for a small place such as an apartment or keeping in a man cave. It has some weight to it so even if someone did want to walk off with it they couldn't without some type of fore knowledge of the safe and a plan. Especially if you mount it to the wall like I did. This thing is going no where unless they cut out the wall to go with it. It is top heavy so securing to the wall is a good idea. The finger print reader was very easy to set up as well as entering a code. You can turn the sound off by entering 3 then enter on the face of the dial. I have had this safe for almost one month now and have not had to setup the finger print reader or a new code since first installation. The finger print reader has been flawless reading my thumb very quickly and the first time every time. I took a little advise from other reviewers and added motion sensing lights to the inside. They are magnetic so no worries about using double sided tape or anything similar. They light up the safe and the little cabinet at the top very well. The safe arrived in only a few days after ordering it. I wasn't expecting it for another week when it was dropped off at my front door. There was slight damage to the box due to shipping. I thought it was normal due to the weight involved. Thanks to really good packing, there was no damage to the safe, not even a scratch. The price was good and customer support was fantastic. I received a card with the safe to email them and they sent me the door organizer for free just for contacting them. I now have multiple long guns and hand guns plus magazines nice and organized in one place. I have showed a couple of friends who were impressed with the design and quality of this safe. If you don't want to fork out a bunch of money for a very heavy safe that someone needs to use a machine to install, then look no further than this one. So far this product is working well for me. I needed a locker that could store 1-2 PC carbines/ rifles, 3-4 handguns and 1-2 tactical shotguns/ shockwaves plus associated equipment, ammo etc. There are not a lot of instructions to set things up but there is a video and I was able to figure things out reasonably well. Came with a liner on the floor and on the front wall plus some foam barrel retainers for long arms that were a bit too high/ narrow to properly fit my Shockwave or Ruger. Used a box of ammo at the bottom to help. Hopefully the length works better with a rifle. Love the three modes of access because I was worried about the finger reader but if anything the coded access is redundant because the fingerprint reader seems to work well. My wife especially appreciates the ease of entry in case of emergency, I will be muting the beep as it's quite loud. Fit and trim was pretty good, this is not a safe to deter a professional thief but it will keep the guns safe from the kids and a casual intruder. Think of it as resistant vs. theft proof. Someone will definitely have to have a game plan as it is bulky/heavy and the right tools would have to be brought/ found to breech it. Strongly suggest attaching to wall if you have mischievous kids but pretty stable on its own. Not planning to expand my collection by much more or space would definitely become an issue so consider your current/ future plans. The locked inner shelf wont accommodate more than one gun some records, a few mags and ammo boxes. Service was great and Alan was very attentive and diligent. I became a first time gun owner recently. I selected this safe because it has room to grow, has the fingerprint reader, and has good reviews. I’m generally satisfied with the safe. It’s sturdy enough to keep out children and deter a thief without tools. We’re going to be moving to a new house in the near future, so the safe is not bolted to the wall and floor at the moment, but it is self standing and does not tip over with the door open. The safe arrived with damage to the top left corner. It’s not impacting functionality and the safe will be in a closet, so it’s not a big deal to me. However, I would suggest that additional padding be provided in the corners of the shipping box. The fingerprint scanner and passcode are easy to program and have worked consistently. I’m having the same problem as one other reviewer with silent mode not being retained. I’m able to engage silent mode, but it only lasts until the control panel goes to sleep. Alan sent a new control panel for me to install, but the new one does the same thing. I tried several sets of new batteries. We’re not sure what the problem is, but since I don’t foresee ever wanting to take it out of silent mode, I’m just going to disassemble the control panel and remove the speaker. Alan was helping during the process of trying to get this fixed. He sent videos on how to disassemble the door, swap out the control panel, and disassemble the control panel. I personally don’t find having a locked compartment inside a locked safe to be useful. I would prefer to just have an open shelf. I knew this when I bought it, so I’m not complaining, just giving feedback. I plan to look at removing the door to the compartment. The foam barrel holder is height adjustable which is nice. The safe comes with padding for the bottom. Alan sent a door organizer with space for three pistols and magazines, a pocket that I use for odds and ends, and a larger pocket where I store the paperwork and instruction manuals. I’ve added a couple motion activated lights and a desiccant dehumidifier and am happy with the safe as well as with the responsiveness of customer support. ... show more
