I was looking for a mount for a TV we were planning on adding to our patio when I came across this. It checked the boxes: discrete, sturdy, and drops down. When I read that it was motorized, I didn't hesitate and clicked the "add to cart" button. I'm so glad that I did!! This thing takes our patio to next level of "wow!" I'm pretty handy when it comes to DIY things around the house so I wasn't intimidated by installing the mount. I've installed TV mounts before so I knew what I was getting into. I installed a 7/16" thick piece of OSB to the house using 6ea. 5/16" x 2.5" lag bolts into the studs behind the siding, and then I used 8ea. 1/4" x 2.5" lag bolts to bolt the mount to the OSB. Once I had the mount installed, I extended it out and grabbed hold of it and took my feet off the ladder. If it held up my 185lb frame with ease, it wouldn't have any problems with a 45lb TV. The included remote is basic, there's not much functionality of the mount. It swings down, and then back up. The TV can be angled left or right, but you have to do that by hand. I was expecting it to be handled by the mount based off the description and the fact that the remote has left and right arrows on it. One cool feature, however, is that even if I have the TV angled to the left or right, and then raise the TV, the mount moves the TV back to the "flat" position. After installation, there's roughly 8" from the wall to the TV when collapsed in the upright position. Overall rating: couldn't be happier with this mount! ... show more

This is a great product and solved our issue with nowhere to put the TV in our new home but above the mantle which was too high for viewing. It pulls out and down smoothly to a comfortable viewing height. The only issue is the mount sticks out below the TV when it's in the high/resting position. I'm not sure how to remedy this- a sound bar to mount to the wall? But it looks funny if you have decor on the mantle. Otherwise, great product. ... show more

Great product, but when I tried to screw back the screw from the lower holder, even without screwing tight, the back of the plate loosened the screw nut, and unfortunately, I needed to use a hellermann tyton to be able to use it. Pay attention if you have enough room between the ceiling and the TV when putting it back above the fireplace. ... show more

We bought this to put over our fireplace. The studs in our walls made it impossible to center the mount over the fireplace. We thought we would just place the tv a little to the right on the mount and use the rotation to keep the tv straight. The tv was uneven by like 3 degrees and there was no way to lock the mount to negate the tilt. Which is fine. It wasn’t built to work the way we needed it to. The thing I would be concerned about is the lack of stability I felt it had. When we put the tv on the mount (completely centered, not trying to adjust to our needs) the whole mount squeaked like it didn’t like that it had any weight on it. I was scared to try to pull the tv down over the fireplace because the tv shook and wobbled when we’d move the mount. I wouldn’t have wanted to move the tv back and forth in fear of the tv falling off the mount. ... show more

This mount delivers as promised. It's perfect with my TV and it operates wonderfully above my mantle. However, at rest, the TV sits VERY high on the mount. Very high. I cant get my TV to go as high as the mount would allow bc it hits my ceiling and scrapes it. My suggestion is to place the mount as close to the mantle as possible if you have lower ceilings. ... show more

    • Fantastic over the Fireplace Mount & IT'S MOTORIZED!

Was about ready to purchase the Mantel Mount (500 series); about $400ish when I ran across this mount which was $100 cheaper and motorized. However unlike the MM, this one doesn't have too many reviews, so I took a shot in the dark and ordered it anyways. Unit arrived, got it installed on my own which was very easy to do. TV is a 65" from a few years back so probably is a little heavier than some of the ultra-thin models available today. I did have my wife help with the balancing while installing it on the mount itself. My mantel goes out 12" from the wall, so I elected to mount the installation 13" above the mantel; paperwork says 12" out = 12" above. In retrospect, I think this could have been lowered a bit (perhaps 9" from bottom of mantel) and the arm would still clear the mantel. Long story short, it looks great. Motorized features is great for my wife (we're Senior Citizens) so she won't have to man-handle the TV to raise/lower as she would have with the Mantel-Mount. We'll happily show this off and let the rest of the Joneses catch up......Hah. ... show more
