  • Tighten it properly and grease it
Tighten the bolts properly, if you go too tight it won't move, too loose and it may fall apart, this isn't rocket surgery, but if you put this together and nothing moves, you've messed up. Also, find grease that works for your temperatures, I'm in Northern MN so I needed something that works to -40 or so, and I have that in a grease that works from -75 to over 500 degrees. Grease the threaded rod, a lot, now wind it up and down completely a couple times, now grease it a lot again... if you've used good grease this thing should be smooth and simple to operate, it's amazing what grease can do. Throw it in your rig, see how it sits, adjust height and go, but with the understanding that this isn't a $2k attachment, it's $200, so your truck in 4lo with the 454 big block and 54" mud boggers will tear it apart if you don't mind your throttle. Side load isn't going to be great for it, look at it, should be obvious. Just keep that stuff in mind and maybe slow down when needed, be a little more careful in those areas... Also, add weight racks or bins or whatever to the implements and add weight to them to get them to work better, really torquing down on this arm and using the implement leveraged against vehicle will wear hard on this, you can do it, but adding weight to the implements would be a far better plan. Let that weight get them to dig down, scrape the driveway easier and so on, instead of torquing this arm till it screams. So, it works... After greasing and running her up and down a few times, she's smooth, easy to operate, quick. I actually use it with my truck, using the blade to pull snow at the moment. ... show more

  • Well designed, good value.
After reading some negative review I was reluctant to buy this. I found it to be well designed and it works well with the box blade. Be sure to lubricate the mainnscrew before use.

  • Thread stiff
Once I received an intact package and once I assembled it, still had two concerns. The joints need to be very tight to not have the assembly rack back and forth. Even the slightest racking binds things up and defeat the purpose of trying to lift an attachment off the ground. The screw thread has a hard enough time running through without significant friction, so tightness is counter to that. Had to buy extra items to make reasonable fixes. First bought Teflon washers for the joints, and second created a storage place for a fine liquid oil spray can. Each time I use I give the screw thread a blast and a wipe with a stiff hand brush. I ensure I keep the top of the thread body free of grime and debris. Thirdly, I do the Tom Sawyer thing and recruit a helper to spin the handle up and down each pass for me. That aside, this is about the only item on the market for this so, if I had to, I'd buy another. ... show more

  • It Depends On What You're Using It For
First of all, this thing is HEAVY! But it's super easy to put together like a big erector set. My problems began when I went to actually install it onto the hitch adapter. The hitch on my Grizzly is TOO LOW for this unit. No matter what I did to raise the hitch to get clearance and crank the lift up as far as it would go.......I was still not able to get the cultivator off the ground. So I detached it, added a 3 way hitch to gain lift, TURNED THE WHOLE LIFT AROUND, and installed it that way. That gave me the lift I needed plus the clearance needed to still be able to turn the lift/lower handle without hitting the back cargo rack. Like others have noted, this is a very sloppy linkage to begin with, so with the added hitch it just gets sloppier. But as you can see from the photos it still does the job I needed it for - busting up grassy over grown raised beds. The ground is uneven, I suspect once I get it flat things will move much smoother. Even though it didn't go on easily and I had a bit of a panic when it wasn't setting right, I don't regret this purchase and it sure beats doing all this by hand! If you're looking to do harder and more in depth work, I strongly suggest a 3 point solid hitch for the attachments. ... show more

  • Had research info to assemble, then make adjustments to make it work for me.
It’s durable and sturdy but just wasn’t happy about no paperwork or information to assemble or use.
