πŸš€ Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The bike, due to its wide tires and sturdy build, is well-suited for larger people and provides a comfortable, albeit somewhat challenging ride due to the tires' size. The assembly process is generally straightforward but could benefit from clearer instructions. The bike's handlebars' height adjustment is somewhat limited, which may create discomfort for taller riders. Several users have praised the bike for its value for money, especially when found on sale.

Pros

  • πŸ‘ Sturdy build, suitable for heavier riders
  • πŸ‘ Provides a smooth, comfortable ride
  • πŸ‘ Value for money is praised, particularly during sales
  • πŸ‘ Wide tires add to stability, although they may make turning and getting started a little more challenging

Cons

  • πŸ‘Ž Assembly instructions could be clearer
  • πŸ‘Ž Handlebar height could be limiting for taller individuals
  • πŸ‘Ž Certain parts, like the pedals and reflector, may need to be replaced due to quality issues
  • πŸ‘Ž The wide tires can make the bike slightly hard to turn and get moving

Should I Buy It?

Yes, if you are a larger individual seeking a comfortable, stable bicycle and don't mind a few minor quality issues and limited height adjustment, this bike could be a great fit, especially if found on sale.

  • Fat Tire bike for less than $250? "add to cart..."
Color: Silver/Black
Simply put, this is a fantastic fat tire bike for the incredible price of less than $250. I've already put in over 60 miles in the last couple of weeks, and it's just a joy to ride. I was pleasantly surprised at the power/torque this bike has when tackling hills. I was a bit worried about how it would handle steep inclines given its weight, but man... the first steep elevated trail bridge I climbed, I easily outpaced others who were riding multi-geared road bikes. This puppy can also easily take off from a standstill with little effort. I was originally looking for a bike with a smooth ride for suburban/trail biking, and this has proven to be exactly what I wanted. This is by far the least expensive bike I've ever purchased, but it's also the MOST FUN I've ever ridden! I'm sure the $2,000 - $6,000 fat tire bikes would smoke this in a heartbeat, but seriously... for under $250, this thing over-delivers! Rides really well on paved and gravel paths. Plus, it's always a hoot to hear the various comments from others who've never seen a fat tire bike before! Is it perfect? No. The one thing I would recommend that everyone upgrades immediately is the seat. I know that bike seat comfort is highly personal and subjective, but I found the factory seat to just be rock hard and uncomfortable for any ride over a few miles. So for another small investment of $45 for a quality seat, I'm sitting comfortably at 20+ mile rides with no complaints. Pros: - Low cost but solid quality - FUN to ride. There's nothing like fat tire biking. - Nice power/torque. Easy hill climbing and quick take offs. - Fairly easy to assemble. Cons: - Factory seat is a bit hard. Recommend replacing ASAP. - Mine was missing a nut for the front tire assembly... minor inconvenience though. Summary: - Looking for an intro to fat tire biking? BUY THIS. You won't regret it. ... show more

  • Nice intro fat bike, great value
Color: Silver/Black
:::Many updates so please scroll to bottom to see whole review::: So I've only ridden this bike for about 60 miles so far but here are my initial thoughts: This is a fun bike to ride, I haven't taken it off-road but did ride on some rough side hills for a bit and it rides nice. It's a nice looking bike, much better colors than its brother. As you'll see below I've made a number of upgrades to the bike to make it much more capable. Each is pretty easy to do with basic mechanical skills. If you are interested in what others have done to their bikes search for the thread "The dolo in the (semi) wild". Suggested setup: Before you ride it the first time, grease and adjust everything-I pulled the wheels apart and regreased everything. They will come from the factory with a minor amount of grease and most likely will be overtightened. Upgrades: Vuelta MTB Comp Crankset Ibera Bicycle Triangle Frame Bag, Large Sunlite Cloud-9 Bicycle Suspension Cruiser Saddle, Cruiser Gel, Tri-color Black YST Sealed BSA Cupset w/Bearings English Threads Shimano MF-TZ31 Tourney Freewheel (14-34T Mega 7 Speed) Kenda Juggernaut Tire 26 x 4.5" Steel Bead Black Vee Tire Co. Snowshoe XL Fat Bike Tire: 26" x 4.8" 120tpi Folding Bead Silica Compound Black Tools Needed: Sprocket Remover/Pedal Wrench Park Tool Crank Puller for Square Taper Cranks Park Tool FR-1 Freewheel Remover for Shimano Freewheels Edit:21Nov2015 Took it for its maiden ride in the snow. The modifications were great upgrades. I stayed in the lowest gear most of the ride. Was a lot of fun. Tires were running 6 in the front and 8 in the rear. Might need to drop a little lower for additional traction. Edit:18Jan2016 After about 40 miles of snow riding I have decided to get new tires for increased float and traction. The stock tires are good all around tires but I easily broke them loose in the lower gears. I installed the 4.5 inch juggernaut tires above. There is a good amount of clearance between the frame and chain in the lowest gear. If we get more snow this year I'll be pumped to see what they can do. Edit: 9Jul2016 I have almost 300 miles on the bike now and I still like this bike a lot. Back in February I rode a fat bike race and it performed well, I on the other had didn't do so great. I've been pulling a cargo trailer and bike trailer a lot the last few weeks and it's a nice ride. I'm really starting to love fat biking especially since it makes all the roads smoother and I don't have to worry about seams in the road to throw me off. I'm planning to take this on RAGBRAI for a day so I'm feeling comfortable taking the bike on long trips though this is significantly farther than any previous one. Edit: 29Oct2016 The last year with this bike has been great. I took it on one day of RAGBRAI and it survived 74 miles of fun. I have started to pull my cargo trailer more often and it does a great job conquering the hills with up to 120 lbs behind me. Not much more to report other than at 650 miles it's still riding well. Time to get ready for winter riding. Edit: 25Dec2016 Just installed the 4.8" Snowshoe XL tire that I studded by hand using flat top bike studs. The tire is slightly smaller than the 4.5" Juggernaut I run in the summer. Great traction with this combination, I didn't even know I was riding ice until I put my foot down to check. Edit: 3Nov2017 Wow, it's been awhile since the last update but the bike is still going strong at 1,522 miles. No issues to report. ... show more

  • Nice bike
Color: Tan
Arrived a day early in great shape. Easy to assemble and seems to be very good quality. Took it to the beach first day preformed well . Great value compared to the astonishing prices I have seen for similar bikes . I will be using this bike on the beach and don’t need a two thousand dollar bike to rust away. I will probably be buying a second for my daughter she enjoyed riding it as well . ... show more
