    • It doesn’t fit all tubs
I liked this product, it is sturdy and easy to install, however I have an acrylic tub that has a slight decorative design on the outside about an inch from the bathtub edge so when I attach the grab bar it touches this decorative design first so I can’t tighten the grab bar enough to make it stable without the tub starting to creak like it might crack if I continue to tighten so I will have to return it. If my tub didn’t have the design that keeps the grab bar from fitting flush with side of the tub, the grab bar would work perfectly but as it is, tighting it enough to keep it stable and unable to move will likely ruin my tub. It has nothing to with the grab bar…it’s my tub that creates the problem…I wish it would work because I like the bar itself. ... show more

I love alone so I want to take extra precautions to avoid slip and falls. My tub sits high off the ground and traction isn't so great climbing out of a wet soapy tub. I didn't want to put holes in the new tile for a grab bar so this adjustable and secure bar is fabulous! Great job!

    • VERY sturdy grab bar, and simple to install and remove.
This grab bar really surprised me when I took it out of the box--It is heavy. I wasn't expecting it to even work, much less work well. I have a very old house, and an old shower/tub combo, with a rail that is about 3.5 inches wide. This grab bar fit onto it nicely, and it comes basically fully assembled except you just have to put the part you grab into the main part, which is simple. You just pull out the two little stops easily and line them up with the height you want. The two flat panels that connect to the sides of the tub have little pads on them to give some traction and also to not scratch the tub, and to install it you just twist the knob and open the clamp mechanism up to where you need it, then tighten it back up. The knob is plastic, but still feels very durable. What surprised me is that the thing is made of solid metal--it's really heavy duty and sturdy. I am about 250lbs and it feels like it will even work for me if I needed it, but I got it for my mom, who is 81 years old and only weighs about 140lbs, and it easily works for her. I've been taking care of her for years now and I wish I had this thing the whole time, it would have made getting her out of the bath a lot easier. Easy 5 Stars for me. ... show more

    • It does not fit our tub. The clamp only opens to 6.25".
My husband brought home a bathtub grab bar the other day. It didn't fit our tub. It's an older tub 1960's. A lovely shade of yellow. He took that one back and I searched through Amazon looking for a tub grab bars that could expand the furthest. This grab bar states it opens to 6.75". It does not. In the pictures they have on the page, the measurement they show for the clamp is 7.5" to the out side edge of the folded edge. In the description is states it opens to 6.75". If it did it would just clear our tub and it would work. 6.25" doesn't work. ... show more

    • Solid, Hefty and Firm Safety Grab Bar with Versatile Height Levels
Got this to replace a similar tub grab bar that needed more height. This one can go up to 18 inches from the surface it is fixed to, nearly 10 inches higher than the one it is replacing, a big difference, while at the same time, can also, if wanted, be shortened 4 inches which is good as the one it is replacing was unusually short and fixed in that height. The grab bar itself is heavy duty, feels like steel, it can certainly do the job to provide a secure rail to hold to, balance oneself, definitely believable it can sustain 300 pound user weight. The install is very easy, just a matter of rotating the knob to widen the base to the width of what you are going to fix it do, then rotating same knob opposite way until tight. I find these not only good for the tub, but also any place with exact depth and firmness like square arms of sofas, recliners, working good to give secure handholds for senior persons without taking up floor space or needing to drill or any other fix, so these are versatile to use because they are made to provide solid firm grab bars on essentially slippery surface as tubs, and so on furniture arms of similar build that are made of thick solid wood covered with upholstery, I found them to also work also excellently. In the bathtub it serves very well even as just something to reach out to, even fingertips, to provide balance and prevent falls, giving security it is firm enough to really serve in a pinch as a reliable place to grab that will not fall off or yield.     • Handy for a Big and Tall person undergoing hip surgery
I ordered this for my elderly 85 y/o dad who is undergoing hip replacement surgery next week. He is going to be staying with us while he recovers for the first few weeks, and I am not comfortable with him climbing in and out of a bath tub without assistance. This is a solid, heavy, well-designed bathtub grab bar. It extends beyond the average 17" to a full height of 23', which is what I'm seeking - I don't want my dad bending over to reach the bar; I can just see him now, losing his balance. Also, dad weighs 235 pounds (he has lost 15 for for surgery) and this grab bar supports up to 300 pounds. This particular model feels super sturdy and I don't have a lingering fear 'what if' in the back of mind. ... show more

We often have guests saying over at our place and I wanted to make bathroom area more secure for kids and elderly guests. This grab bar fits on the edge of bathtub and is very secure and does not wobble while holding. It can be adjusted to fit any bath tub with varying thickness. The height of the bar also can be adjusted easily. The bar is made of metal pipes and is very sturdy. My guest bath is not very big so this works while using the toilet or while getting in and out of shower. It's very easy to install and uninstall the bar so they can be stowed away when not needed.
