When trying a new product line, it's quite common for things not to go well at first! I'm new to Mizani products and just purchased this line on the advice of my hairdresser. My hair is long, thick, curly and coarse but it's a hairdresser's dream. If you can relate to this then this review is for you! Since my hair is textured like this, it's challenging to straighten so I don't do it often and I need a good thermal protectant for when I do. Now, since I'm new to this line I might not be using them correctly but time and experience will help I'm sure. What I've discovered is that the two "Thermal Raincoat" products actually don't play that nicely together when used as directed. (Disclaimer: I might not be using them correctly but then, I digress...) As you can see from the last photo, there's a particularly gross looking glob on the hair shaft. Combining the "Thermal Raincoat" products results in this when I followed the instructions. I was able to dissolve the globs somewhat when I added the "Thermastrength" product. So this is good to know! Hopefully, this helps someone else who may be having the same issue. But then again, I may be using these products incorrectly. However, I'm still experimenting and will know more later on. It may also help to know that the "Thermastrength" smells kind of peppery like Polo for Men by Ralph Lauren. It's not my favorite scent but it's tolerable if it dissolves the goop created by combining the other two products. This is the first product I have ever used in my hair that actually does what it’s meant to do!! I can walk outside which a light rain and my freshly straightened hair stays straight with no frizz!! New favorite for sure!!

Works well. I have thin wavy/curly hair (type 3/4 on the chart) and I don't have issues when I straighten my hair. This definitely made the job easier but for the price, I can use less expensive, similar products for my type of hair that gives me the same results. On the other hand, my aunt who has tight curls (type 6 on the chart) finds this to be very useful. ... show more

When I ordered this cream, I didn't know that it was supposed to be used with another of their products. It is better for thicker hair, but still, it controls frizz nicely after my hair is dried, so it it good for that. The cream itself comes out slowly, so you don't have to overuse it, and the tube is a decent size for the price. It's not greasy nor thick, so it doesn't 'stick' in your hair, and that's a plus in itself. There is not a strong scent to this cream, so that's another plus. All in all, this would probably be better for someone with thicker hair than I have, but it's not a bad cream at all. ... show more

MIZANI Press Agent Thermal Smoothing Raincoat Styling Cream This styling cream works well when you need to control frizz. I used a tiny amount - about the size of a dime and used this from my ears down to the ends. It made my hair very smooth and easy to style with a blow dryer and then following up with flat iron. It left my hair very shiny as well. I can see this would work better on curly or wavy hair but it did a fine job with my straight hair that tends to fly away. (from the manufacturer) Suggested Usage: -Wash hair with Press Agent Thermal Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner (sold separately). -Dispense two parts Press Agent Raincoat Styling Cream to one part Press Agent Raincoat Styling Serum (sold separately) in hands and emulsify. -Apply to damp or wet hair, starting at the ends and working your way up to the root. -Reapply as necessary based on density of hair. -Adjust amounts based on straightening needs and texture type.     • Good for coarse hair, but meant to be used with the serum

According to the directions on the back of this, it's meant to be used in combination with the serum, which I didn't realize when I ordered only the cream. Still, I have been using it alone and it does help tame and moisturize my naturally curly/wavy (2c/3a) hair. It's a bit heavy for my hair, which is fine but thick, so I can't use as much as I would like to make sure my hair is moisturized all over, and combining it with my leave-in proved too heavy. I added some Mineral Drops to a smaller amount of this and that seemed to do the trick for coating all of my hair, so I do think it needs to be used with the serum. However, my hair was soft and manageable after air-drying with this combo, and felt smooth after straightening. I wouldn't order this again because I don't think it is ideal for my fine hair, but if your hair is more coarse I think this would be a good choice for heat-styling and manageability. I would recommend only using it with the serum as directed, though, to get the full effect. ... show more
