    • A solid built passive cooled mini PC
I purchased this unit to evaluate for suitability for use as an astrophotography mini PC to attach to the telescope rig. This unit is actually too heavy to attach to all but the largest telescope mounts directly as you can with some other smaller offerings. This unit is ideally placed either on one of the tripod legs or possibly hanging off the dovetail bar if your dovetail bar is long enough and you have a mount able to support the additional weight. I did notice that the case on this unit gets very hot under load, so much so that it can be uncomfortable to touch. And speaking of the case.. it is a VERY solid chunk of aluminum, ergo the comment about where to mount it at. Performance was on par with my other N100 based mini PCs that I own. The external antennas also increase the distance that I can place the unit from the WiFi mesh point. This is handy as it allows me to better position my telescope rig in the back yard to get the best view instead of worrying about the best signal. ... show more

    • Works well and the complete silence is awesome!
This is the first experience I've had with using a fanless PC. Plenty of super-quiet fan ones before, but none like this. The case itself acts as the heatsink, and it really doesn't get all that warm even with all day use. I'm impressed. Part of that thermal performance though is because it's only running an N100 processor... they're very power efficient, but they're not exactly going to do much truly heavy lifting. Thankfully though, for what I'm using this system for, it doesn't have to do much of that. This computer is being used mostly for daily household computing needs, some media editing & playback, and intermittent non-intense gaming. For heavy gaming, you'll need to look elsewhere, but then if you're a gamer looking for a rig, this class isn't going to be on your radar in the first place, so that's not really an issue. Boot time is pretty speedy, thanks to how Windows 11 Pro is optimized, and thanks to the very capable memory and hard drives selected for use in this system. As is my practice with any new computer that's not one of the big name brands, I do a full, multi-pass, hard drive wipe as soon as I've done the initial setup and linked the Windows license to my Microsoft account (gotta do that first!). My reasons for this are not specific to any one system but are part of my focus on overall best security practices and data protection priorities. After the full wipe, I did a fresh Windows 11 Pro and reassociated the license with the system and I was off and running! For everything from running various Office and media handling programs, to running a media playback client for use with my home entertainment NAS (with full 4K UHD content, which can be resource hungry on the video side), to running some strategy type games, this system checks every box, hasn't locked up yet, and runs every bit as smooth as a larger-footprint system. The Wi-Fi performance has been rock steady and having the super-fast USB 3.2 ports means transfers to and from portable drives are painless and quick. Going back to the media playback part... video coming out of this box looks amazing! No stuttering or blocking, no delays in beginning playback, no overheating during playback, etc... driving an OLED TV with it gives true colors that are exactly what I'd get from onboard playback or from disc-based playback. I'm impressed by how much this system can do with an N100 processor. The system design is solid, and it delivers the same level of quality to which I've become accustomed from an earlier Minix small-format Android box held in high esteem in the home theater community that I've used for several years on my other TV. Minix really builds good systems, and this fanless PC (did I mention how weirdly wonderful it is to use a PC that's completely silent?) represents the best of their efforts. The value is quite good, their reputation is excellent, and I've already recommended this system to a couple different friends who were looking for silent PCs for their own homes. ... show more
