  • Great for Proxmox and Docker With Linux (UM773 Lite Mini PC)
This is my second MiniPC (Both MinisForum) and so far so good. I can't say anything about how it runs on Windows because as soon as I got it I installed ProxMox on it, then Docker, and it's now running several containers and VMs. For Linux and my uses, it's a beast of a little machine and takes anything I have thrown at it like a charm. I also upgraded the RAM to 64 GB purchased this Crucial Brand one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09S2QLBWC I'll be running many VMS and containers, so I need a lot of RAM. Whatever RAM you buy, if you plan to upgrade RAM, make sure you get laptop RAM. Desktop RAM will not work with MiniPCs. Upgrading the RAM was very easy, you just press the little clamps from the outside and the existing RAM sticks popup, then you can slide the new ones in. A delicate process for someone without much practice or tools for this, so be careful. I also added a 2 TB SSD. Purchased this Samsung: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08QB93S6R The expansion slot it has requires a 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD. So again, make sure you get something like that if you plan to upgrade the storage. Placing that 2.5 Inch SSD in there was a trip, If you have fat fingers and bad vision like me, prepare to have a lot of patience. The spot where the connector is located is hard to reach, and the whole thing is delicate, so you have to proceed with caution. Excellent little machine as far as I can tell. ... show more

  • Computer is fast
Size: UM690 Slim(32GB+1TB)
I use this computer for both work and one online game. It handles everything that I have thrown at it with ease. Their tech support has been absolutely great when I had a problem. Sometimes stuff happens. I also bought two ( one for home and one for the office ) for my boss who owns two hotels and seven apartment complexes. He can't afford to be offline. His computers seem to be perfect. ... show more

  • Purchased 4 miniPCs and all are unreliable
Size: UM690 Slim(32GB+1TB)
Purchased four of these devices to use for public access computers in a public library. The ability to mount them on the back of the monitors was about the only nice feature. One of the units died within a month. Within three months, a second unit reports a drive failure, and the other two lock up repeatedly throughout the day. I contacted Minisforum's customer service department as soon as the first unit failed. After trying a few solutions they provided, they said the unit was dead and offered for us to mail it to them at our expense for a replacement. After not hearing from them upon receipt of the dead unit, I contacted them asking for an update. They said that the model we had purchased was no longer in stock, and offered another unit with a larger SSD drive for a $35 upgrade fee. I checked their website and found that the upgrade they are offering costs $130 less than our dead unit. On paper these miniPCs look great, and they performed well for a few days. Now, they are destined to be some very expensive paperweights. ... show more

  • Great server pc
Currently I’m running an Ark Survival, V-rising, 7days, Conan Exiles, and 2 Minecraft servers on this pc. I don’t really use it for much else. I did upgrade to the 64gb ddr5 which is the max for this machine and everything runs without issue. Highly recommend for server use as opposed to always renting one from hosting sites. Extremely quiet. ... show more

  • Great value for money, really sweet taste product with a pinch of salt...
Size: UM690 Slim(32GB+1TB)
The item came in perfect condition despite the fact that the box had visible impacts on corners. (Thanks to the shock absorber inside the box it did not harm the unit.) The unit is surprisingly "heavy": Outside it is plastic, but inside it is metal - so that's the reason, which is a very good thing. And we know: "weight is sign of reliability". Right? So, the device itself is really good, except it is having a design flaw. But, in general it is great for slight gaming and gives outstanding performance on day-to-day tasks with so many programs running the same time. I expected that this little guy would be a lot less powerful on CPU and gaming. But, in reality, it outperforms the latest Ryzen 7 CPU by up to 5%. Woah! Compared to my older Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 Pro CPU-s it gives up 120 and 145% more power. And it fits in my hand. The cooling: It is not too loud, not too quiet. Depends on the configuration in BIOS and overall utilization, it can be like a relatively loud laptop or like a passive cooled laptop. In normal use with Balanced mode power plan, the cooler is less noisy than a super-quiet Seagate external USB3 HDD in plastic enclosure. It is good isn't? But, if I'm starting to play, it gives decent performance, but in cost of some noise. But, this noise is like a rain falling outside, instead of a noise we all know from bigger computers where coolers makes screaming and / or rumbling noise. So in my opinion it is amazing. The cooling solution for the CPU is absolutely great! It keeps the CPU cool under heavy loading but not makes me headache. There are two problem I have faced with this little box: The first is that I cloned my SSD to the NVMe SSD and I'm using the same stuffs I initially deployed around 2012... The Windows 10 updated (in-place upgrade) to Windows 11, but here I ran into the problem: If I SATA SSD along with the NVMe SSD, the system could not be rebooted, shutdown, sleep = The system will hang at the end of the procedure, no error will be generated. This is a driver incompatibility issue as I discovered, but not yet able to hunting it down. Yeah, mea-culpa! So, this is just a headsup if you wanted to buy this PC! The another problem is more interesting. The applied passive cooling for the internal NVMe SSD is applied in a bad way. The heatsink picking up heat from CPU from other side of the board through the holders of the heatsink. This could make the SSD very hot. Some manual tuning of the heatsink or removing and attaching another heatsink would be a solution. (I already contacted with MinisForum and sharing technical details and recommendation to fix this...) This is the reason for adding 4 stars only. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give 8.5. or even 9. (I would rate the competitors' devices even lower...) So, the decision is yours. So far I'm very happy with the device and using it since nearly a week ago. Every single days, up to 16 hours. ... show more
