  • Mac guy that needed a cheap PC
Lets get this straight. I hate PCs, I'm a Mac guy. unfortunately there are some things that still are only available for the PC, which do not have an acceptable counterpart on the Mac. Of course there are things available on the Mac that there is no acceptable counterpart on the PC as well. I have for years always found a Mac work around for everything. I finally ran into something I didn't want to compromise on a workaround for. My thinking is if I had a PC then I could switch to that for the few times it was absolutely necessary or would make my life easier. Why this unit? 1) I don't want to have to buy another PC... at least not for a long time. 2) I was looking for low cost but not bottom of the barrel. (see #1) 3) I don't need super powerful ( not going to be using it for gaming etc) but, see #1 4) To keep current as long as possible, get one with up to date protocols for Bluetooth, WiFi, Ethernet... 5) Some expandability but not a big box computer ( I don't have that much desk space) This one fit the bill. It supports the current protocols and surprisingly has 2.5Gb Ethernet. It has an above average processor, faster goes up in price quickly, slower did not save as much as the degradation in speed. I can upgrade the memory if I need to. it is down right tiny and it came with a stand. This is a really good value PC for most of what most people need. I would have given it 5 stars for easy to use except it is a PC not a Mac ... show more

  • A very fast pc for a very low price.
Size: UM773lite-32GB/512GB
I really like the size of the pc. It comes with a stand and a vesa mount. I mainly use my pc for light gaming. It keeps the temp in a safe range even at 100% load with little fan noise. I like that it is upgrable for memory and an 2.5" ssd. I would definitely recommend this computer to anyone who needs an energy efficient and small form factor computer. ... show more

  • Was never stable for gaming but completely unstable after adding an SSD.
Size: UM690S-32GB/1TB
To start off, to call this a gaming PC is laughable. Even when I first got it I was unable to play Skyrim at 1080p and get acceptable framerates without dropping the detail level down to medium and even then within half an hour it would CTD. It was however extremely fast for everything but gaming and in the benchmarks I ran I believe it scored in the top 13%, impressive. My major problems with this unit started a couple of months ago when I added an SSD for more storage. On the side of the unit that the hard drive goes into, there is zero cooling, zero vents and almost zero space. The PCB is double sided and the side that the CPU/GPU are on has all the cooling and the side that the memory and hard drives, 1xM.2 and 1xSSD, has no cooling at all. Adding an SSD rather than just upgrading to a larger M.2 was a big mistake. To be honest, I have not contacted their tech support team yet so my ranking for that is just a default 3 stars. I have done plenty of research, maybe something I should have done before I spent $800 on this unit, and what I found out is that the stability issues with this particular unit, the UM690, are well documented on Reddit and apparently the BIOS and the AMD drivers both play a big roll. In my case, I was also unlucky enough to get a model from before they started putting heat spreaders on the M.2 drive and memory. Right now I have the SSD drive sitting outside the unit and I ran some stress tests to find stable operating settings for the BIOS and it is back to running stable 24/7 as my DVR server. It is still worthless for gaming though. ... show more

  • Rocket on rails! Great for my virtualization needs.
I purchased a few of these units to test them for a Proxmox 8.0 cluster and they don't disappoint. They are fast, powerful, quiet, and run cool. I had zero issue with Proxmox detecting all the hardware and getting up and running quickly. You can really see the difference the 2500Mbps NIC port makes when transferring files to/from the NAS. It's great if you don't want to pay for a 10Gbps solution. For the sake of testing, ESXi 8.0 also had zero issues seeing all the hardware and installed with zero issues. Same for Ubuntu 22.04, Debian 12, and RHEL/Alma 9. All in all I'm very happy. ... show more

  • Great value for money, really sweet taste product with a pinch of salt...
Size: UM690S-32GB/1TB
The item came in perfect condition despite the fact that the box had visible impacts on corners. (Thanks to the shock absorber inside the box it did not harm the unit.) The unit is surprisingly "heavy": Outside it is plastic, but inside it is metal - so that's the reason, which is a very good thing. And we know: "weight is sign of reliability". Right? So, the device itself is really good, except it is having a design flaw. But, in general it is great for slight gaming and gives outstanding performance on day-to-day tasks with so many programs running the same time. I expected that this little guy would be a lot less powerful on CPU and gaming. But, in reality, it outperforms the latest Ryzen 7 CPU by up to 5%. Woah! Compared to my older Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 Pro CPU-s it gives up 120 and 145% more power. And it fits in my hand. The cooling: It is not too loud, not too quiet. Depends on the configuration in BIOS and overall utilization, it can be like a relatively loud laptop or like a passive cooled laptop. In normal use with Balanced mode power plan, the cooler is less noisy than a super-quiet Seagate external USB3 HDD in plastic enclosure. It is good isn't? But, if I'm starting to play, it gives decent performance, but in cost of some noise. But, this noise is like a rain falling outside, instead of a noise we all know from bigger computers where coolers makes screaming and / or rumbling noise. So in my opinion it is amazing. The cooling solution for the CPU is absolutely great! It keeps the CPU cool under heavy loading but not makes me headache. There are two problem I have faced with this little box: The first is that I cloned my SSD to the NVMe SSD and I'm using the same stuffs I initially deployed around 2012... The Windows 10 updated (in-place upgrade) to Windows 11, but here I ran into the problem: If I SATA SSD along with the NVMe SSD, the system could not be rebooted, shutdown, sleep = The system will hang at the end of the procedure, no error will be generated. This is a driver incompatibility issue as I discovered, but not yet able to hunting it down. Yeah, mea-culpa! So, this is just a headsup if you wanted to buy this PC! The another problem is more interesting. The applied passive cooling for the internal NVMe SSD is applied in a bad way. The heatsink picking up heat from CPU from other side of the board through the holders of the heatsink. This could make the SSD very hot. Some manual tuning of the heatsink or removing and attaching another heatsink would be a solution. (I already contacted with MinisForum and sharing technical details and recommendation to fix this...) This is the reason for adding 4 stars only. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give 8.5. or even 9. (I would rate the competitors' devices even lower...) So, the decision is yours. So far I'm very happy with the device and using it since nearly a week ago. Every single days, up to 16 hours. ... show more
