    • It's a cool unit despite its poor instructions.

The first unit I received was dead, so it was replaced. The second unit energized, but at first I didn't think it was working, the instructions weren't clear as to what was wrong. I was about to toss it in the trash, then I found a video review online for the GThunder brand night vision binocs, same guts, different body; I saw the problem right away. The problem was me, I didn't realize I'd to look through the TV screen part, not the two eyepieces (like regular binocs). Nowhere is that explained in the instructions, which are very poor in my opinion. However, the company was responsive to my concerns, they just didn't understand the problem, nor did I. I'm going to graciously give this unit 4 stars, because the unit is cool, and the company is concerned with customer service. But the hassle of having to return the first dead unit, then the eyepiece thing, all the time it took isn't worthwhile for me. And I still can't figure out how to focus and zoom, really poor instructions. So I hope someone out there learns from my experience, namaste. ... show more

These are a good set of night vision goggles. Here are a few quick thoughts I had while using them: - It's made well. The plastic is decent and even though it feels a bit hollow, it feels pretty sturdy. - I like that it has a standard camera mount screw. This makes it easy to put on a tripod for stability. - It comes with a 32 GB micro SD as well as a USB micro SD reader. I was happy to see it came with both since I don't have an extra micro SD lying around and my new computer doesn't have a card reader. - The screen has good resolution. You can see most details whether in the dark or light. - It does a great job of getting pictures at night and daytime. - It works like a normal camera. You can switch between taking pictures, videos, or viewing your library with a push of the mode button. - It's not a heavy duty bag, but I appreciate that it comes with something to put everything into. Overall, it's a pretty good night vision camera/goggles. ... show more

This is more of a small LCD screen, that you hold up in front of your face (not really goggles as you cannot wear them). This is simply a hi-def camera with a very powerful IR illuminator that allows you to see in the dark. Nothing ground-breaking. These are not going to be your tactical NODs. However, these are effective at seeing a dog at the far end of a yard (about an acre) in the middle of the night. It's about a 3x zoom, it does have adjustable focus. The interface sucks. I got these right before our family beach trip, and everyone had a good time using them as we sat on the back porch at night. We were at a beach where you can't keep porch lights on (we were told it was because the lights deter the turtles from crawling up and laying eggs), so it was generally pretty dark, which allowed us to scan up and down the beach and ocean (we never spotted a turtle though). I was pretty amazed by the clarity and detail provided by the night vision on these, once we figured out how to use them. The drawback with these is that there's several buttons closely arranged near your fingers to perform various functions (on/off, menu, zoom in and out, etc.), but they are all dark colored and very hard to see. If they had put backlights under the buttons or maybe used some sort of reflective paint to label them, we wouldn't have had so many "What just happened?!" moments. The instructions weren't very clear either, which also made the learning curve a little steeper. We eventually did figure out the basics on our own and discovered it's a pretty cool product. But for the difficulties we had with the buttons and instructions, this product would have earned five stars instead of four. ... show more
