  • Thermal Monocular
Size: TNV30
I have changed my predator hunting game by going through the natural process of switching from hunting with red light to nvg technology to now thermal for the last couple years. I come from a 20 year thermal background as well and I have witnessed first hand the thermal technology progress over the years especially from the military to civilian market. Choosing this product, out the gate, I didnt know anything about the company Mileseey and have been a strong loyal supporter of pulsar. I did the research and decided to give it a shot. Giving the specs provided by this monocular and the price tag associated coming under the price of comparable thermal monoculars, help solidify that decision. One thing with thermals is you get what you pay for, that is unless your buying this product where you get more 384x 288 then what you are paying for :). I was highly impressed with the crisp image, ability to focus/dial it in for picture detail, mode options, zoom options, etc. I’m good with the fact that it lacks the the bells and whistles of recording as that’s where the thermal rifle scope (have to switch from monocular to the scope at some point to shoot) comes in. I’d rather have this monocular that’s a 384x288 and carries a 50hz refresh rate capability then pay for a lesser resolution with all the bells and whistles. From rolling into a parking spot, stepping out and immediately scanning for coyotes to hunting and getting to have the rifle scope on stby preserving batteries and using this monocular which is easy to use- is definitely a game changer. Great product, will recommend to friends and coworkers, did exactly what I was hoping it’d do-provide relief and flexibility for scanning, improve coyote detection and coyote hunting success. Also home Security, tracking deer shot in archery season, search and rescue, many many uses and it’s just cool to scan the back field to see what critters are out and about. ... show more

  • Not as advertised

It’s so blurry I can’t even makes out a picture of a rabbit at 40 yard at night, all you see is just a red object on the ground.

My first thermal. It works great. I can view animals on my property. My son has been using it to scan for coyote hunting. He loves it. The battery life is excellent. There is a + symbol that shows up to point to the hottest thing out there. It is annoying at times, but if you increase the magnification it goes away. The more you increase the magnification it gets less clear. I would buy it again. ... show more

  • Almost great!
Size: TNV30
I've had this for a few weeks and here's what I think... This device needs a screen dimmer!! The picture is too bright, especially for night time use. When you take your eye away you will definitely experience diminished natural night vision and diminished color recognition during the day. The field of view is too narrow. This becomes an issue when trying to use it over large expanses like looking over a field. It also can make finding an animal a little harder. The zoom works well but, due to the FOV being narrow, it gets to be too much on the higher magnifications. The "Hot Tracking Mode" is annoying. It's also not a "Mode" since there is no way to turn it off. Luckily, the crosshairs aren't too large but, they're really annoying especially when what you're looking at is small and also the hottest thing on the screen. I like the size and shape of this device. It's easy to slip in a pocket or backpack. I do wish it had a cover for the eyepiece, though. Maybe a Butler Creek scope cap would fit. It's very nice having the ability to focus! Some more expensive models have auto focus but, this allows you to see what you're looking at clearly at a lower cost. The button functions are relatively easy to work with. I find myself searching over them to figure out which one my finger is on, while on scope. With time, this should dissipate into a more fluid operation. I wish these used common batteries. But, that's extremely hard to find on any thermal camera. 5 stars would have been given if it had a dimmer option for the screen and a larger FOV. As for the price vs. other options, I feel this is a good value for the money and I'm overall happy with the purchase. My intended uses include - spotting animals from 5ft to a few hundred yards during all times of day and night. Determining heat loss areas around the structures on my property. Determining warm areas during possible electrical overload issues. This can also be used as a stud finder in the right conditions. ... show more

  • It also has a BRIGHTNESS control. (HOLD M)
Size: TNV30
I am impressed with this for the money. I have used some cheaper and some more expensive thermal monoculars, and this is the by far the best performance for the money I have seen. I am using it for hunting on a small property and it has changed the game for me. The image quality is very good and it seems well built. However, I was finding that at night, the screen was too bright, which was impacting (decreasing) my vision after looking in the scope. I discovered that it has an undocumented BRIGHTNESS mode. Press and HOLD the M key, you can then scroll up and down with the buttons either side to adjust as required. This helped a lot, but I also decided to add a stick-on "80% tint" film to the eyepiece to really dim it down (only a few $ on Amazon for this). Now with the 80% tint film, and the adjustable brightness I am very happy with no more vision issues. Other notes: the lens cap is not great as it can fall off easily, but it does the job. I really only use 1x and 2x modes as anything more (4x or 8x) doesn't help much in my scenario. The HDMI output is not compatible with the "cheap" USB to HDMI capture cards I have tried, which is a shame as I hoped to use my phone as an external screen sometimes. ... show more
