This is amazing tech and uses simple batteries to function properly and it's a great replacement for not carrying a mouse all the time. It doesn't really replace a good mouse but it makes using the surface a lot more fun especially if you're a fan of the touch screen.     • Best pen to use with a Surface Device
This is actually my second Surface Pen. My first was packaged in with the surface pro 3 box when I had purchased it. It worked for several years and started "acting up". I replaced it with a cheaper knock off for 30 bucks or so. And I began using that same cheaper one on my new SP7. I saw the new pen is magnetized to the newer SP7. I decided to purchase this new pen and pass on the other one to my daughter going off to college. Long story short - WHAT A DIFFERNECE! - This pen has a much better, more natural feel when writing/inking on the device. Quality of the writing is much improved too. I highly recommend it over the others as I found a renewed "value" of quality with the price difference. It also better syncs with the inking functions of windows 10 and the single or double click to launch certain inking apps. I will purchase again. ... show more

Too bad Amazon doesn't let to edit review that from unknown reason does not comply with the guidelines. I spent a lot of time writing my review to give a very positive feedback about this item along with adding nice pictures of the unboxing process. Anyway, let's try again and I'll try to be more focused this time: Pros: - Great built quality. - Feels great in hand in both size and weight. - None slippery nib that has just the right friction on the screen (with and without screen protector). - Right-click button on the barrel. - Rubbery eraser, which also serves as a clickable button for launching other applications. - Replaceable AAAA battery. - Magnetically attached to the side of the Surface. Cons: - The right-click button on the barrel is too flat and requires a significant force to be clicked, where the actual clickable area is only at the lower part of the button which is close to the nib. Not very convenient and I find that I have to use my fingernail in order to press it. ... show more

I originally spent $35 or so for the silver after market pen. Ratings were good on it. It was good for what I paid for it. I had no issues other than an occasional 5 second wait for it to "connect" to my Surface Pro 6 and that really wasn't an issue. I always had 5 seconds to spare. The problem I encountered was handing the pen off to clients and they inadvertently hitting the "erase" button when signing documents. After repeated occurrences of this, I finally "upgraded". The difference was night and day. No "connection" issues at all. The pen is there immediately and seamlessly. With the eraser end being on the other end of the writing tip as opposed to being a second button, there is no problem with clients signing either. My old pen will sit there in case I lose/break my Microsoft pen. ... show more

I had lost the pen that originally came with my surface pro laptop. I misplaced it Friday and I needed a pen badly for Monday. I am a college student and I write my notes on my laptop. So that fact that this pen came Sunday night before class was just amazing!! I don’t have to skip a bit and it was easy to pair with my laptop and already comes with batteries!!!! ... show more

    • Better responsiveness than the last model, improved but still the same surface experience
You can definitely tell that this pen is more smooth and response than the previous model. Don't get me wrong, this model is definitely better than the last, however, these pens still feel mushy in comparison to the Apple pencil. I like the texture and feel of the new pen, but I do miss the clip. It was nice to be able to securely put in my bag without it winding up in an obscure pocket or bottom of my bag. I think this is probably the best pen for the surface, but the entire experience just pails in comparison to the ipad/apple pencil. ... show more

    • Simple interface for a robust active stylus
I’m very pleased with the surface pen. The touch sensitivity is implemented well and accuracy of the tip registering to the screen is spot on. The ability to use the eraser unique to the Microsoft surface pen is rather useful. The only issue I have had is that Sometimes when I press the eraser button, the whiteboard application app does not open as it should. I’m not sure if that is a Windows 10 issue or an issue with the pen. Other than that very minor flaw, I’m very pleased with the performance. ... show more
