We got this for my son for his 10th birthday and it has been a HIT! The kids explore outside to find things to look at, we compare hairs, take cheek swabs, etc. The magnification is great and clear. The phone adapter is a great addition, allowing more than one person to view at once, and take pictures and videos. We really enjoyed recording different substances (salt, sugar, etc..) dissolve. Great micro scope for young students. This Microscope is so much better than all the other cheap plastic kids microscopes. The metal construction and quality of lenses is very good. I originally purchased one and when I received it, it was a defective product. So I returned it after returning it I received an email from the distributor and they were so polite and kind they offered to send me another at no charge because they were confident in their product. So I said sure why not maybe the first one was just a bad one and this one will be better. And I was pleasantly surprised it was and it works great. If you're using this type of microscope make sure that you use the oil immersion technique for viewing things over 900x magnification, it makes viewing the sample much clearer. ... show more

I love this microscope for the price I paid for it. Comes with beginner supplies, some extra slides and some cheap droppers to get anyone started. Optical quality is good. More of a 4.5 stars instead of 4. The only reason this is not a 5 is because I wish the light was a bit brighter. HOWEVER, it does come with a smartphone adapter. Using a modern phone, you can cheat the lack of light since camera sensors are so good nowadays and its a lot more comfortable to view things on screen than down the scope. ... show more

I bought it for the heavier metal body, and use it for basic K-12 education with small classes. The "2000x" magnification claim is BOGUS, so be aware of that. The camera attachment is a joke, definitely don't buy for that.

Really good microscope! Love the connection that lets you use your phone with it... and, it makes it easier than using your eyes! Do note that my Samsung galaxy s9 plus was a bit too big for it. My daughter's ipod or other iphone is perfect for it though. I had to buy more slides separately. Had a good kit with it to make your own. Would buy again! ... show more
