Desc includes variable speed, 0-2000rpm. don't believe it, it has 2 operating speeds, 0 and 2000 rpm. And it's a violent start. Make sure your parts are well chucked. You will need some .5mm shims to shim the tailstock so it alligns with the headstock. You'll need some more to shim the motor and gearbox to relieve the belt slipping at startup and during operation as there is no idler to adjust belt tension. All of the handwheels have maybe a quarter turn of backlash. The index wheels couldn't be moved until they were disassembled and the chip the manf put in to retard the index wheel was removed. Now they can be turned but don't stay where you put them. They advertise the ability to cut threads. don't believe it. If you can cut threads at 2000rpm you're better than me. The instructions imply there are spacers to get the head and tailstock up off the ways. don't believe it. But you can move the hdstk to the end of the ways so it overhangs and allows more swing. There is no drill chuck for the tailstock and apparently no option to get one. Good luck trying to center drill a 3mm shaft so that the tailstock can be used. Other than that, it works for the one thing I bought it for, turning small disks... karson ... show more
