Small, high speed, very useful little lathe. I bought it to make a few little things and love it. Tools are a bit cheesy but good chisels are not expensive. I use it to finish beads, and little wheels, as well as turn some handles and made little toggles for some bigger projects. I have yet to use it at the highest setting, little guy is fast! If you use bead/disc drill bits, this thing is fantastic for sanding them down to a smooth surface ready for finish. Next I’d like to make a chess set. I had a minor issue with a small part, several months after purchasing, customer service was absolutely Johnny on the spot, asked for a picture and sent a replacement part right away.     • Pretty Good For The Price
I was hesitant to purchase this mini lathe as I had considered purchasing a real wood-turning lathe for quite a while. I decided to purchase this for small ring and jewelry projects and didn't want to spend a fortune on something I may not be using very long. This worked great for making rings. I had to create my own ring mandrel by turning a short wooden dowel on the provided screw adapter so that it would allow me to friction fit a ring. The resulting mandrel was a bit tough to center the ring perfectly but worked great for the limited uses I had. The problem with this lathe is that you do not have fine-tuning control of the motor's RPM. You only have control over voltage. The lowest setting is still fairly fast, so you can't use it with the motor to apply epoxy or lightly polish or clean things. Because this lathe doesn't have a traditional chuck, you won't be able to grip the ring from the outside and work on the inside of the ring. It has a very small jacob's chuck, like a tiny drill. The work area is quite small, but I suspect it would be fine for small projects like turning rings, making pens, making small wooden pieces, like chess pieces, etc. The lathe is light so you'll want to get a clamp to clamp it down to the table as it will move around quite a bit, especially at higher RPMs. It's pretty much exactly what I was looking for, but if you have any grander plans for turning material, you may want to get a small traditional wood lathe. Waste of money, literally, unpacked, and packed it back up so fast it was on the same delivery truck that just dropped it off. There were no instructions, extremely cheaply made, the tools are laughable. Makes harbor freight items look like Snap-on.

I didn’t want to spend $500 to make pens, so I figured I’d give this a shot. I used a 7mm steel rod I got from Amazon in a set. The chuck fit it fine, and the backstop was a little bit of a stretch but doable by hand. Try to get your wood as round as you can before you start. Don’t bother with the tools they give you. They’re downright dangerous, toss them. Plus they don’t work. I used a straight chisel I got in a cheap harbor freight kit. My first piece stoped numerous times, but it was very off center (my fault). My second piece didn’t have nearly the problems the first did. After the edges were smoothed out, it was smooth sailing from there. Totally worth it to make a few pens, with a few adjustments. PS my blank is pictured in the second picture before I turned it for size reference. ... show more

This is not a CNC device. it is a very small bed with a small motor lathe. It is best for making pens, beads, and not much else and even then toss the tools provided and buy some real ones The instructions are horrible. They do not explain any of what came with the product, so I needed to so to the description online and figure out what they were by reading the "comes with" section. The lathe came and was running at full speed and again, there was nothing i the instructions on how to slow it down. I had to read all the Q&A to find out how to reduce the speed of the lathe. The turinng "tools" provided are a joke. They are tiny, which makes sense as the lathe is as well; however, the metal the blades are made from look almost like steel package strapping that was ground on one end to look like a tool. All in all, i was able to turn a small 3" piece of cheap soft wood into a dowel after over 45 minutes of work. ... show more

Cutters that are included, did not risk.Hardened them with a burner. Sharpened against the stone, replenished goi. I tried them. Brought already can and work. Only good thing on it is the motor. Way to short and way to low to the bed, can’t get and extension to add length to it because the channel is some odd size you can’t buy anywhere, tools are paper thin and will hurt you if you even try to use them, actually all the accessories it came with are garbage, didn’t leave any room to clamp it to a table so you have to hold it in place with one hand, motor wires hang out the back of the cover and the motor tabs were bent all the way in when I received it from shipping, I bought accessories to improve on it but nothing works for the size of the bed. Set up a return but it’s going to cost me too much in fuel to return so I’m throwing it in a box to collect dust. Trust me I’d spend a little more and get something that will work at all, this was a terrible design even for being from China. ... show more
