  • Variable speed, easy belt adjustment and changing, and reverse.
This lathe is excellent! I bought this for my wife who is thrilled with it. She's made some beautiful spurtles and is starting to make bowls. For someone new to lathe work, I'm proud to say she seems to be a natural, but I'm sure the quality of the lathe deserves some credit too, especially the variable speed feature. For the price, you'd have difficulty buying a better piece of equipment. ... show more

  • Beginner lathe with growth potential
Im a 35 year wood worker but brand new turner. Knowing what I wanted to do, small and medium bowls, pots, vases, ect., and doing weeks of research landed me squarely on the 34035 lathe. I’ve got a few hours on it and have tons to learn to be confident. What I like. 14” swing, good power, variable speed, led rpm ( but really not necessary), everything feels solid. Spur drive and live center lined perfectly out of the box.. If it turns out to be reliable I’ll love it forever. I won’t knock anything off for it but I’d prefer the controls under the headstock . I’m a big clumsy guy (who is new to this hobby) and I need to see everything. Where the controls are I find I shut the machine off quite a lot with my hip. No issue with function fit or finish, and I’m sure over time I’ll remember it’s there. Other than that, read all the reviews and recommendations for a beginner hobbby machine with some potential for growth, then pull the trigger. If you know a machines limits and it lasts, this is tough to beat in this category… I’ll update any issues. ... show more

  • Arrived broken.
Someone somewhere dropped it. It arrived broken at the base. Looking at other reviews this is a weak spot. I shipped it back and got a refund but it took 30 days for the refund and I needed a new lathe so I just found a used one and got that. I’ll repurchase this one at some point in the future as it looks good and other than the weak spot, it has good reviews. ... show more

  • Makes Lathe Work Easy
Really love this lathe. I bought the metal stand also and put casters on it so I could move it around my workshop easily. It arrived slightly damaged with plastic pulley cover broken. Wen customer service was very responsive and shipped me a new one immediately. I had to adjust the motor pulley a little so it would not throw off the belt. These were minor problems. Unit is solid, plenty powerful and very quiet. All adjustments are very easy for the user. Handles on the two ends that also serve as tool holders are a great added feature. This is so much better than wrestling with my shopsmith style multi-machine. Very pleased! Honest John ... show more

  • Arrived cracked
As a small business owner, I was delayed in opening this package until after the return window closed, but I was extremely disappointed to open the box today and find out that the main unit had a crack that will make it useless.

  • Very Nice Machine
Since I decided to get back into turning. I purchased this lathe, as I have limited space. It works beautifully and has plenty of power for all the turning I've done so far. Only negative is the spur chuck they provide. It does not really work on hard woods.

  • Simply great!
I waited awhile to give a review to make sure it was a good machine. I've had a few break on me relatively quickly, so didn't want to give 5 stars to soon. I genuinely love this lathe!! Such a great one for bowls, and that's hard to find. Motor isn't loud at all, it even purrs. Changing gears is easy, and the dial speed setting along with the reverse direction takes it to the next level. Also, customer service and tech support were wonderfully friendly. Would buy again in a heartbeat. ... show more
