I've had this bag for a bit over a year now (normally I don't come back and review products so much later but I'd reviewed something else and noticed this in my options to review and thought since I'd had it so long and it's still holding up I'd throw a review out there). I bought it after my mother bought this same bag - I saw hers (which has held up equally well to everything she puts it through for work), loved the design (I've always loved messenger bags but it always seems tough to find a nice-looking one), and had been thinking I could use a new laptop bag. I'm a freelance writer - this bag has traveled with me to libraries and coffee shops as I write my articles. It has pockets for everything, I can fit my planner, tablet, a reporters' notebook, billfold/wallet, folding over-the-ear headphones, pack of gum, water bottle, pens, assorted papers and notes, laptop and cord all inside. This bag will fit a roughly 15-inch laptop - if you have anything past probably 15.6/16 inches, you'll likely need a slightly bigger bag (if you're one of those people with a 17-inch behemoth of a laptop, it probably won't fit in this, at least not easily). Looks-wise this bag is absolutely gorgeous, a classic, rugged look, my bag is brown so I don't know what the other colors look like, but the brown is a beautiful, versatile color that goes with everything. The only thing I'd improve is the water bottle pockets on the side of the bag. They're fine but it'd be great if they were a bit more open/a bit wider perhaps - if I'm taking a water bottle (lately reusable but not always) somewhere, I usually have to make sure the bottle goes in the bag before the laptop to get everything in smoothly and easily. I will say this bag definitely holds up! Summary: Gorgeous, durable, well-made, versatile bag, definitely worth it, can hold everything and then some - I'd always wanted a good-looking messenger bag and something like this was basically my dream bag. Oh, and I forgot to add - the strap is removable so if you want/need to unclip it and just carry it like a brief case that's an option. Also, I really don't get why a gender-neutral item like a bag is branded as "men's" because this design definitely has universal appeal! ... show more

STORAGE: The bag totally gets the job done if you have to carry a laptop, binder, notebook, etc. However, the water bottle holders on the side really aren't gonna fit a water bottle as they're too tight and small. They're good for pens/pencils, but whose gonna carry a pencil on an outside pocket with no zipper? The two front pockets are also pretty good and can be made to fit things. I had to put my water bottle in one of those pockets; headphones in the other; and my binder, laptop, and writing utensils in the main storage. With those items, I could only close one strap of the bag. The zipper is totally useless and I'm not sure why anyone would go through the effort of using it if the straps do the job. Overall decent storage though, as long as you can think creatively. COMFORT: The strap really digs into your shoulder and if you walk for more than 5 minutes with a filled bag, you will have to switch shoulders and even just use the top handle instead of the shoulder strap. I think it could use some padding and it would probably help if the bag itself weighed less. But then we might lose durability... not sure what the solution to comfort is here. DURABILITY: Absolutely will take any beating. I live in NYC and throw this bag around, carry it through all weather conditions, and it still looks like the day I bought it. I have complete faith that this bag will hold all of my things without being in danger of ripping or breaking. It's naturally acquired some scratches from constant use, but overall 10/10 durability. The downside here is that while it's durable and could probably survive being beaten against a rock for an hour, it does lack comfort and some storage (like I mentioned before). LOOKS: This is the most subjective category to rate, but I personally love the look of this bag. It's got a slightly modernized vintage look. I've gotten lots of compliments on this bag and personally bought it mostly for the look. It looks exactly like it does in the pictures so you definitely get what you paid for in that regard! Overall 4/5 stars but would probably give it a 7/10 because of the uncomfortable strap and limited storage for items other than notebooks and laptops. ... show more

Bag comes as described. Roomier than expected. Used once for an overnight trip and it held up well. Got a compliment as well! Did not notice a smell. Material feels thick and sturdy. Shoulder strap does not have much padding so don't overload it.

It’s sturdy, holds a great deal, and the snaps are very secure. The shoulder strap adjusts easily and can extend pretty far. It’s comfortable to wear, even after a fairly long time. Lives up to the description.
