  • Perfect fix for so-called blackout curtains
Color: Off White Size: 50x80 Inch
I paid too much for dark charcoal "blackout" curtains that weren't as effective as I'd hoped and I didn't want to replace them. For the price I figured these were worth a try, and I'm thrilled. I was also hoping for some thermal protection from winter drafts and I did notice some improvement. If thermal against cold is your priority with these, they're probably not enough on their own over drafty windows like mine. They work great against passive warming from the sun, though. I notice very little sound dampening, if any. Photos are my two bedroom windows in indirect midday light, one after putting up a test panel. You can tell the original curtains did darken the room a lot, but not 100%. I ordered the other three panels as soon as the first was up. I rent, so my curtain rods are technically too close to the wall (no-drill policy = hung with command hooks). I would probably get more light passing through across the top if they were hung properly, but that's to be expected with grommet curtains. I don't mind having just enough ambient light to help move around at night, since it is dark enough that I need to put a light on in the day. I'm sure there's a way to block the top if you needed that. [Update: 3rd photo added 6/16, taken with full, direct, early morning sun. Just in case that makes any difference for people who need full blackout during the day.] Regarding various complaints: It's possible the company updated the listing because some reviewers were confused, but these are clearly labeled as off white. Light grey is accurate and my room is all shades of grey anyway, but I don't care what it looks like from the outside so that isn't a concern for me. These are obviously meant for function and not to be visible on the inside, so I think some reviewers aren't using them as intended. These are also listed as 80% blackout, so they shouldn't be expected to do more than darken a room on their own or behind sheers. I actually appreciate that I can pull aside my decorative layer to get more light if I need it without exposing my 1st floor bedroom. I would agree that the binder rings were an unexpected attachment method, but I'm not worried about them breaking and they should be easy to install if you don't struggle with hand dexterity. I hung my set while everything else was still up. I guess I'm not surprised some folks are disappointed, but it seems to me their expectations were off. If you read the listing thoroughly, you'll know what you're getting. I definitely recommend these if you need to boost what you already have. ... show more

  • Value for money
Color: Off White Size: 50x92 Inch
I just used 4 panels to line living room curtains. I sewed 2 panels together to avoid any light breakthrough. They do exactly what I wanted them too.

  • Money saver and opens up more selections
Color: Off White Size: 40x58 Inch
Haven't found much selection in blackout curtains that I like and are 96" long. Adding these liners to regular curtains opens up the selections to get what you want. I actually saved money because I was able to get regular curtains on sale and then add these liners. And when I decide to change curtains, I can buy regular curtains and refuse the liners. ... show more

  • Works well, blocks light well. Easy to use
Color: Off White/Black Size: 50x80 Inch
A couple of the clips were broken (the pin at the hinge was not peened at one end).

  • Should be 2 for a window
Color: Off White/Black Size: 50x92 Inch
What I didn’t like is the fact that it was only 1 panel when your order curtains you should get 2 for a window not 1. Otherwise I love the durability of the panel curtain liner. Just would have liked it more if it contained 2 panels instead of. So if anyone else is looking at reviews and is wanting to purchase this better count how many panels your gonna need for the size of your windows. ... show more

  • Yes silver, yes room darkening with good curtain, yes helps with heat
Color: Off White Size: 50x80 Inch
Well, I'm chemically sensitive, the curtains do have a bit of a plasticky smell and believe it or not (despite other reviews) 'feel', yes, but like you can feel them and say they are 'soft curtains', but it's like someone interwove a plastic shower curtain in them, but for the price and the heat blocking, I don't care. The smell, however, if I had a washer, I'd wash them. I would love to but until then, I think I'll wash them in the tub with a ton of my 'safe' soap (chemical free soap) with hot water a few times and hope for the better. RIght now, I had to put them up immediately, it's 92 degrees feels like here and these curtain liners help make it not feel that way. I docked a star because the rings are flimsy, if you decide to adjust, remove or move them around, they tend to lose shape so you have to push them back into shape to get the two sides to connect. If you don't mind that for the price or have some quality shower curtain 'C' rings, then I would get those and use them. Right now, I would say they are 'just worth it', they make a difference but I have to clean the plastic smell off. I can't say the exact temperature difference. Tbh. I think the window liner material I had got at one point worked a hair better, hard to tell yet. This may make a difference of 8 degrees, that one was 10, but the film was trapping the moisture coming in on the window and then I was itching with the slight mold development so was a 'no go'. Grateful with curtains, on the other hand, they can be adjusted. If one had windows without moisture, I might go with the film but that was smelling like swimming pool ring plastic so...I don't know. Still, if you had all 3, I think it should take the temp down by roughly 30 degrees (10 degrees with the first curtain, 8 with this liner, and 10 with a film). I think the difference in temp would be better if you had a second set of curtain rod holders and brought these up higher to give more coverage at the top of the window. Also, my curtains don't stretch 'around' the window and that, too, could make a difference. If you want a full blackout effect, you will need the main curtains to stretch around, and with these underneath, they should do the job Even with my main blue 'black out curtains'. I'm not worried about black out, I need some sun. I notice a difference with the UV, it's definitely way more overpowering when near the window. Don't know about 99% difference, but I will try to see if I can raise them and notice a difference, my verdict is out on that. ... show more

  • Love !!
Color: Off White Size: 50x80 Inch

  • Not a blackout curtain
Color: Off White Size: 50x80 Inch
These were very easy to install because the rings allow you to add them to the rod without taking down your existing curtains. Although I took mine down to wash before putting these up, it's a nice feature. I have four curtain panels across my large window and these panels are a little wider than the curtain panels. What I like about that is that they cover the "seam" where my panels come together and don't allow light to come through like my old set did. The one thing that I feel is deceiving is that they are not blackout. Meaning that when they are closed I can still see light coming through them allowing light in my room. So, if you are using them to block out all light, I would not recommend these. ... show more
