Other than feature differences, sanding, grinding and cutting performed equal to my DeWalt 20V Brushless grinder (DCG413). The tool is compatible with DeWalt accessories. The manual provided great use and safety practices and is well-written in English. The first thing I did before using this grinder is cut off the fabric lanyard. It was long enough to overlap into the accessory area about 1 ½ inches. It would cause a safety issue if snagging on a wire wheel, flap disk, wood carving disk, clothing, workbench, etc. I only gave the grinder 4 stars instead of 5 due to a few safety issues. The lanyard was insignificant. Other possible safety issues are: 1. Lack of a safety lock switch before sliding the on/off switch. 2. Ability to lock the slide switch in the on position. The lock can be engaged very easily by just continuing to push the slide switch forward. An angle grinder can cause a significant injury in a heartbeat. My opinion is there should not be a switch lock. 3. Lots of attention needs to be paid to tightening of the accessory guard. If loose, the guard can slide off and interfere with the rotating accessory. The guard clamp needs to be very tight to prevent loosening. I think this is an excellent price for a grinder but will note the differences when compared to a DeWalt grinder at 2 ½ times the price. This may not seem fair but this grinder actually has some features the DeWalt does not. This comparison will also help you decide whether any feature affects your purchasing decision. Only differences are noted below when compared to my DeWalt. 1. Safety features noted in the earlier paragraph. 2. Speeds: Mellif – 3 speeds – 4000, 6000 & 8500 RPM DeWalt – single speed – 9000 RPM 3. Locking Flange: Mellif – No labeling. DeWalt – Labeled “This Side Out” with Lock/Unlock icons and tighten/loosen arrows. 4. Guard Depth: Mellif – 13/16 inch (21 mm) deep DeWalt – 1 ¼ “ (31 mm) 5. Weigh (weighed with lab scale): Mellif – 3 lb, 9 oz (1620 gm) DeWalt – 3 lb, 12 oz (1710 gm) 6. Power: Mellif – Not stated in Sellers description, manual, packaging or web site. DeWalt – 0.16 hp 7. Warranty: Mellif – 30 day refund, 5 years-could not find terms. DeWalt – 90 day refund, 1 year free service, 3 year limited. Comments on other features: 1. The spindle needs several slight back and forth rotations while holding down the spindle lock button before it will engage. 2. Pay attention to which side of the locking flange faces out before removing - there is no labeling. 3. With an accessory installed and guard rotated completely in one direction, the tip of the unlock lever is difficult to grasp to release. 4. The guard depth was a bit shallow and will not provide protection with some wire wheels or wires flying off of wheels. ... show more

This product is actually a lot nicer than the pictures show. It's probably still a mid range grinder but has a lot of great features. The brake is actually more useful than I thought. This stops the discs faster which means I can set it down between uses quickly without waiting for the disc to stop spinning. This has some nice features like the adjustable speed switch. Depending on the disc and material the speed control will help keep the power draw down and the material from burning through. This takes the standard Dewalt 20v battery. I like that even though it's not a Dewalt tool, it takes the Dewalt 20v batteries. This has a threaded mount for the side handle on either side. You can fit larger discs than 4 inch on it by removing the guard. Overall it's a nicely designed and built drill. If you are looking for a gift this would be a gift. ... show more

This is a real nice grinder. I requested it because it will take Dewalt batteries and batteries are pretty expensive if you have to buy different kinds. In my opinion, pictures on line do not do this tool justice. Awesome looking grinder that comes with a safety shield and the grinder has an anti-kick back feature. This grinders also comes with a 5 year warranty. When purchasing grinding wheels and or discs, keep in mind, there are many grinding and cutting wheels available for small grinders like this one. You need to know that the grinding wheels are rated for a specific maximum rpm. The top speed on this grinder is 8500 RPM. However there is a speed select switch on this grinder that makes it easy to change speeds. Just make sure you have it set on the speed that matches your grinding wheel. The speed settings are 4,000 rpm, 6000 rpm and 8500 rpm. This tool would make a great gift. ... show more

A cordless tool is only as good as its battery. That gives off-brand tools that use big-brand batteries a bit of a leg up. This Mellif angle grinder has really surprised me. I already own a DeWalt cordless brushless paddle-switched angle grinder that I love (mostly gets used with a wire wheel to clean up welds). But one can never have too many angle grinders (I must own half a dozen by now). This slide switched angle grinder is just about as nice as the DeWalt. Even better in some regards. The brake kicks in quicker than the DeWalt which means the tool can be set down sooner after power-off. And this Mellif grinder has 3 speeds for more flexibility of use. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this grinder, especially for someone interested in adding additional grinders for cheap to their collection. I had high hopes for this grinder. I inserted a DeWalt 4.0 Ah OEM battery. I had to cut off a bunch of screws. I was working for about five minutes. I noticed a burning smell, then I saw smoke. I stopped the tool and pulled the battery. This thing is toast. Now it's a paperweight.
