I needed additional burners and this was exactly what I needed. It heats up fast and has even distribution of the heat as well. This works well with small and medium pans but a large one doesn’t cook evenly. Otherwise great item.

First off, for the price, this small counter top 2 burner is great for the money! Next let me say that a flat bottom pot that is smaller than the burner size does better than the indented over-sized pot (which the manufacturer advises). Now for the good, bad & better; I was able to boil water in a flat bottom covered pot & the burner reached more than 400° F, but the downsize is that it took about 20 minutes (better than never) to boil. BTW, my thermometer is measuring 5° lower than it should (as seen in 1 photo, h²0 boils @ 212°). The only other negative is that the right side burner never reached bright red-orange, but it will suffice for our needs. I gave MegaChef 4+ stars because of the right burner & the time it took to boil h²0. I think with a bit of work, this could definitely be a 5☆ product, but it's positively worth it's asking price! I'll update as I use it & see how well it performs but for less than $30, who can complain! ... show more

    • This unit heats up really quickly.
This is a great product, I was able to cook my pasta, sauce, and vegetables as quickly as if I was using a gas range. This unit heats up as soon as you put the dial on 1. I was able to regulate the heat with the dial from 1 - 5 (5 being the hottest and highest). I was also able to keep my veggies warm by placing the dial on 1. After cooking, I turned the dial beyond 1, pass the three dots, as well as unplug the unit to ensure the unit is off and will begin to cool down. Place the unit on a stable and flat surface to ensure your pots do not tilt and spill causing injury.     • This hot plate is amazing
I could not wait to write this review for this hot plate. I was in need of one, so I came to amazon to search, and read a ton of reviews about a bunch of hot plates. My main concern after researching was that a hot plate was not really going to do the job for actual 'cooking' but more for 'warming things up'. So since the expensive ones were saying the same thing that I was assuming, I ordered this one because of the price, $17.00 for a double burner seemed crazy cheap. So I ordered it, and 2 days later it came, and I used it immediately, expecting a real let down. All I can say is I am shocked, in a good way. This hotplate gets as hot, and as fast, as my electric stove. I made an omelet super fast, I boiled water, cooked chicken, and many other things, just like on my stove. I'm not sure why there were a few reviews that said it wouldn't boil water, or that it took forever to heat up, I just don't get it.     • Shipping was rough.
My package was lost randomly. I had to get a refund then a week later it showed up on my porch out of nowhere. The product is light and feels like it is made from cheap materials. To boil water you need to use a quart sized pan. It will boil nothing over that size. I've only used one burner at a time so I'm unsure if one burner gets hotter than the other. There's no way to remove the burner coils so you have to be extremely careful to not drop anything under them, because it's nearly impossible to clean out if you do. Product showed up 2 weeks late, but I got a full refund so I guess I cannot complain that much. ... show more
