I purchased the MEATER after watching Youtube videos on how to use my new Komodo style grill, where it was occasionally mentioned and recommended. The device and app are great. I love how when initiating a cook it steps you through the kind of protein and even the cut as well has how well you like it done. The app then calculates estimated cooking time and alerts you when there is five minutes remaining. I've gotten perfect results every time I use the MEATER. The biggest issue is when carving a roast it looks like someone put a bullet through it. Other probes where the electronics sit outside of the grill leave a hole a fraction of the size. Bluetooth range is acceptable with this model with a ceramic grill, where I can use the app anywhere in my kitchen or family room while the probe is outside in the grill. But with a metal top Weber gas grill I have to place my phone up against the glass on my kitchen window sill. The range is very much limited by the metal lid so I would purchase a MEATER with an extended range when using a gas grill. Pros: gives perfect results, great app with nice features, easy to use Cons: leaves a large hole in the meat, Bluetooth range limited by metal grill lids ... show more

MEATER makes cooking easier and with less worry. Accurately measures the temp both in the meat and the oven, and I found out the oven was about five degrees hotter than indicated. Great device!

GREAT concept and I'd say a great product overall. When used with the app, you insert the probe, tell the app what you're cooking and how (i.e., a beef roast in the oven, medium-rare etc.), then it tells you when it's done, but most helpful of all is *when* it will reach the desired temp and doneness (say, your roast will be cooked to medium-rare in 42 mins) .. that's the best feature -- love it! Takes the guesswork out, or multiple times opening the oven to take the temp. My only complaint is that bluetooth seems to drop if you get more than 5-6 ft away from the oven (or rather, when your phone does). That's relatively minor to me, maybe not for others. This thing is THE BEST! The range to the app wasn't great, but it picked right back up if I moved outside. I made a brisket, two smoked chicken and some pork chops with this. It's GREAT!!! It's true - when the MEATER first came out (I kickstarted it), it took a while to actually receive...which drove a lot of skepticism. My dad, brother, sister and I all had ordered one and anxiously (and angrily) waited for it to come...which it did. You may wonder, why then a 5 star review? A few things: - You don't need to wait a long time anymore...I ordered two more of these devices, and they all came within a week. - The temperatures are accurate...trust us...we spent forever thinking 'yeah, this is too good to be true'. We tried it against all of our dozen-or-so wired thermometers (a TON of times), and the meat turned out better than when we had used the wired ones. - I see a lot of people complaining about the range...and I did too at first. However, one thing that the creator of this device should highlight in neon lights (HINT HINT) are their videos explaining that YOU CAN EXTEND THE RANGE. I can seriously go to the park with my nephews or watch a movie, and still cook my meat (NOT RECOMMENDED - FIRE HAZARD). If you have no idea where to find it...type in 'meater range' into youtube, I think it should pop up. - It really increased the types of meat my whole family were comfortable cooking. Their app lets you easily choose between beef, pork, fish and more...but then FURTHER lets you choose stuff like rib-eye, brisket, steak...and then asks you 'rare, medium rare, medium, etc.). Since then, I've only burned ONE piece of meet out of dozens...and that was because I fell asleep away from my phone... - It's super easy to clean. It wasn't THAT much hassle before, but when you're trying to keep your kitchen clean and 'sleek' and not have 3-4 wires dangling around, this fits in pretty well. We get it...a lot of us were angry because it took a while to come. I was one of those people...I seriously didn't touch the device cause it took so long to come and I was bitter. But, I'm glad I eventually did open and use it cause it works better than advertised. Note: A few buddies of mine ordered some 'knock-off' versions of this device because they were cheaper...that ended up being a big mistake. The quality was poor and their accuracy was super off... ... show more
