I worked in Catering and Deli when I was younger, used the old Hobart Machines. so I'm very competent with a Slicing Machine. After checking out the various slicers here from under $100 with the serrated , slow turning blade, to the $350 plus pro slicers, I decided on this intermediate one. It's all aluminum so it doesn't way a ton like the steel ones, and it has a 200 watt motor, good for home slicing. There are better ones that cost around 4-500 dollars and have 300 watt plus, faster motors, and considerably heavier. But for limited home use this one works really good. I like to slice an Eye-round for great RB sandwiches. Also it's pretty east to clean as the motor is well protested from water under the base, so I just take off the carriage and blade guard and set it on the table outside and spray if off with the hose. Then, after it drip dries, spray and wipe with 90% rubbing alcohol to kill any lingering bacteria, then store away for next time. I HIGHLY RECOMEND this machine as an affordable option to the bigger pro slicers and certainly much better than the cheaper, serrated blade ones that are about useless with an Eye-Round. ... show more

I chose this meat slicer because it wasn't the cheapest one for sale, nor was it the most expensive one. But it was on sale during the black Friday sales and was in the range of what I was wanting to spend. It offers a nice quick even cut. Using it four times in the last month has given an overall good impression. However, the cleaning of the slicer is a little different than what the instructions state. They state basics of cleaning but do not talk about removing the blade. If you truly want your slicer cleaned, you will have to remove the blade. While it's not difficult (3 Phillips head screws), the blade is heavy so take care not to drop it and heaven forbid wear safety gloves or take extreme care handling the blade. One other little drawback was cutting eye of round steak into slices while little chunks of meat would fly both into my body as well as to the other side of the blade (away from my body). It wasn't terrible, just noticeable. Overall, I would give this product a 4.2 - 4.5 out of 5. I haven't tried sharpening the blade yet, so I'm not sure how well that function works. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I spent about two weeks researching which model to get. After watching several news articles about how bad deli meat is for health, and paying $10.99 to $14.99 per pound for what I thought was healthy meat, I decided slicing my own would be a better decision for my family. So for $60 at Costco I bought 5 pounds turkey breast, 4 pounds ham, and 5 pounds corn beef. Just the ham alone would have cost me $45 at King Soopers. With just this first batch of meat, I have paid almost 40% of the cost of the slicer. And I know exactly what is in the meat. The other important issue for me was noise. I needed something that did not sound like an airplane was landing in my apartment. This thing is so quiet, and so smooth, that it just made the investment that much more worth it. The item was packed extraordinarily well and was very easy to put together and to clean up after slicing. Total cleanup took me 10 minutes. At this price point, it’s hit or miss whether or not the product comes with a sharpening stone, and this one does so no need to have a second blade as this one can be continually sharpened. The product appears extremely well-built and I anticipate getting a lot of use from it. This is all the benefits of a higher priced unit for $150 less. ... show more

I worked in the restaurant industry for 20 years after I got out of the military. Had one of these that was just a little bit larger, that we used to cut cheese and meat. This is exactly the same kind though it’s not the same brand! This thing works great. It’s easy to use, easy to understand the instructions and easy to sharpen. It is made of aluminum and stainless steel. This thing will last a lifetime! If you’re on the fence about which one to get, get this one you don’t need anything larger than 8 inches at home to cut meat, cheese bread, etc. This is a 110 V. Most of them do not say they are 110 . They say the motor wattage and that will kind of confuse you as to whether it’s 110 or 240. I do recommend getting a cut safe glove to clean the blade so you don’t accidentally cut your fingers. ... show more

The motor is strong, I could not bog it down with anything I sliced. I really like the machine, the only drawback I can find is having to clean it after use. It is easy to disassemble but be very careful with the blade, I dropped mine the first time around and almost lost a foot. It hit the floor and bounced on the cutting edge, it put 3 gouges in my linoleum flooring. ... show more

My last deli slicer motor went kaput and I purchased this gem. I accidentally went with the 10 inch blade instead of the 8 inch blade. To my surprise I was not disappointed. It is easy to clean, not much larger than the 8 inch, it’s easy to clean, and easy to store in a standard kitchen cabinet.

When we opened the box it looked as if the slicer may have been used and returned. There was water spots all over it and this was especially noticeable on the plastic shield.
