  • I may just need more practice . . . (Not true!) (Update!)
UPDATE: Wow, this must be the best customer service I've ever experienced! They read my review and were concerned about the blade coming off, as they said it should not come loose or come off by pressing on it with whatever I'm slicing, as I said in my original review. They asked if I was sure that I was rotating the button on the blade before locking it, and son of a gun, I (stupidly!) neglected to do that! So you put the blade on, turn the button in the middle (counterclockwise, I believe) until it clicks into place and THEN you lock it. They offered me a refund if I WAS doing that because it's dangerous, of course, for the blade to be coming off. After I locked the blade in place correctly, I sliced a roast beef and a turkey breast with no incidents. It was a breeze and I'm changing my stars to five because it worked wonderfully, I really love the convenience and ease of use, AND their customer service is superb! I used it for the first time today and a few things could be better, but one of the issues was my fault. I bought a roast beef (it's how I convinced my husband that the purchase was worth it--"it will pay for itself!") and when it came time to slice it, I cut the roast in half to work with an easier piece, which is a good thing to do. The blade came off three times while I was slicing! But . . . I realized it was because I was pressing on the roast to make sure the blade was getting a good chunk of it, but the pressing of the roast was actually my pressing on the blade itself, which isn't necessary, so it kept coming off. After I stopped applying the needless pressure, it didn't happen. That habit probably goes back to the manual one I had for years and I had to really press hard while turning the blade. As for clean-up, I noticed that in the reviews, many people were claiming that clean-up was a breeze, while others were calling it a nightmare, and I have a suspicion of why there are opposing opinions . . . it obviously depends on what you're slicing! There was a LOT of juice with the roast beef and it was pretty messy. I removed all the removable pieces and hand washed them in warm soapy water. I used a disposable disinfectant cloth to clean up on the machine what couldn't get wet, but because it was a roast with a lot of juice, there was a good portion of that juice still in an area I couldn't reach: the crevice where the blade apparatus meets the machine itself. After I cleaned it, a few minutes later I saw red juice dripping from that crevice so I kept cleaning and cleaning it because all I could imagine was putting the machine away and how beef drippings would smell in a day if I didn't get every drop! So THAT is the part that wasn't easy. I turned it upside down and still more drops of juice were coming out. I imagine, however, that slicing bread is a breeze! I'm looking forward to that! I suppose I could give it four stars because it does seem well made and has a very strong suction and the slicing was very quick. I wish that little crevice didn't hide so much fluid. The cord could afford to be a little longer and the motor is louder than my floor cleaning machine but it doesn't really bother me because you slice what you need to slice and it's done. It's not like it's running for all that long. All in all, I'm glad I purchased it but I'm hoping I got every last drop of the roast beef drippings before I put it away in my cabinet! ... show more

  • … Juuuust RIGHT!
I did exhaustive research before buying this one, and boy it didn’t disappoint! 😮💨 I’ve wanted a slicer the greater part of my life, and now I’m happy as a clam, slicing paper-thin steak for stirfrys & cheesesteaks, but the best was running CHICKEN through this thing! Many are too big or too small, but as my title says … 👌 No WAY are y’ever gettin paper-thin chicken without this. Just not happenin. Its motor can easily handle more than I’m pushin through it. Super easy to clean, too! VERY - HAPPY w this bad boy! 👍 ... show more

  • Works well and very good price
I have used this to a slice eye of round for beef jerky and I had no issues. I also thinly sliced grilled flank steak for sandwiches. The only issue I have had is that a couple times the blade detached. I had to switch off and reattach blade. Reason for 4 star instead of 5 stars Cleanup was very easy. I like that it came with 2 blades for cutting a variety of foods. I wish it came with a storage for extra blade. Overall, very good slicer. It meets my needs ... show more

  • Beginner level home slicer... barely worth the money.
Born and raised in Eastern Pennsylvania, I grew up on thinly sliced Land O'Lakes American Cheese. When I moved to Indiana, the only place that sells Land O'Lakes is Meijers Deli, Meijers Deli seems to have a policy that they will not cut Land O'Lakes American Cheese thinly. And the cheese that they do slice they stagger as they slice them causing the cheese to crumble in the bag. Simply put, they don't know how to cut American Cheese for some strange reason... even though I never had an issue anywhere I went in Pennsylvania getting exactly what I wanted. Anyway, I ordered this meat / cheese slicer so I can buy and cut my own 5lb block of Land O'Lakes American cheese exactly the way I want it. Meijers was charging over $9/lb, and Gordon Foods sells the 5lb block for 5.49/lb so I figured the slicer would pay for itself in about 1-2 years. Pros: It can cut a 5lb block of American Cheese as I desired. Getting the slices thin enough (about 1 mm) is a challenge, but doable. Blades are easy to change. Cons: -The adjustable plate needed to be bent backwards in order for the slices to be sliced evenly from top to bottom (1/4 inch gap at the bottom when the top was even with the blade). After I made this initial adjustment it seemed to stay in the proper position. -The cord is very short (about 3 feet), making it very difficult to plug in and use at a reasonable location on the counter. -The motor sounds like it is going to quit at any moment... though it keeps going (bogs down as you put the product into the blade). I ran mine for about an hour. Though it smelled like the motor was heating up during this time, it never stopped. -There is a black plastic part behind the blade that seems to ware down as you cut. The first pound of cheese had little black plastic at the tail end of the cheese.... after that it seemed to die down. -The cheese does not look cleanly sliced, but rather more like it was cut with a saw (I tried both blades with the same result). -It took about an hour to cut 5lbs of cheese. About a quarter pound was shredded into granular bits by the blade and reduced to something akin to saw dust at the base and around the blade. -Cleanup is not easy. It took a solid 15 minutes to clean up. Also there are places that you simply cannot reach with a rag to clean up. Potential health hazard there. All in all, I'm not disappointed to the point of return. If this lasts me for a year it will have paid for itself. I'm crossing my fingers on that one. Doing it again, I think I would spend the extra money for a 10 inch professional model. I'm sure they are much more robust. ****Update June 10, 2023***** Upon reading the above review, the manufacturer, Borlebbi, offered me a complete refund on the slicer. I did not contact them, they contacted me! I took them up on their kind refund offer. So I guess their customer service seems to be very good. I'm tempted to change the star rating, but even though their customer service is impressive, the actual product needs to stay at a 3. So, 3 stars for the product, 5 stars for customer service. ... show more

  • Money Saver!
With roast beef from the counter running $18.99lb at my local supermarket, buying this meat slicer will be a money saver! Sure it's work with cooking the meat, slicing, and cleaning, but it's well worth it and satisfying doing it yourself. Plus, it's nice to know exactly what's going into the meat you're feeding yourself and family. ... show more
