    • Took a star off, but then gave it back.
Just got this, so long-term durability is not part of this review. Took a star off for various complaints as noted in other reviews. Only one off because, for the price, it looks like a decent value. The unit I received was different from the instructions as it did not use a set screw, "fastener b" to attach the seat, using a taper fit to secure it instead. As to the piston separating from the base, it needs to be assembled correctly to prevent this. Piston is tapered and must be seated. Take two short pieces of 2x4 and set the base on top of them so the casters are off the floor and the center hole is not blocked. Wipe any grease from the piston and the socket with a rag and a little degreaser, paint thinner, etc., then set the piston in the center hole. Take another short block of wood and a hammer and tap the piston gently but firmly into the base. Tap around the top of the cylinder, not on the middle shaft, making sure to tap down all the way around. Set the seat on top and push down firmly and give a couple small whacks with the bottom of your fist until you can slowly pick the stool up by the seat a couple of inches off the floor. Then smack back down firmly a couple of times to seat the top on the post. Anything can come loose with time, so ordinary caution at all times, but once properly assembled, this should stay that way for a good while. I took a chance on this mainly for the price point. Although it's max weight capacity is 250, I'm a big guy at 300+. It holds my weight with no problem. I use it almost daily in my workshop. It rolls well and is comfortable for a reasonable amount of time. At this price, you can't go wrong.
