My family lives in the Northeast of the USA. It can get fairly cold in the fall. Some of my family grew up in much warmer climates. As such, I was looking for ways to help keep them warm so we could have more dinners outside on the back deck. In addition to a fireplace, I decided to go with a outdoor space heater. I ended up purchasing a MAXOAK Infrared Patio Heater. I have not used it for the intended purpose, but I have used it to take off the chill in my garage while I had to work in the winter. In this case, I ran it off of my BLUETTI AC200 Portable Power Station. I was please with the unit. As I was able to control the heat level, I did not have to worry about it draining the battery too quickly. Overall I am pleased with the purchase. Here is a quick list of pros and cons. The cons are all improvements that could be made, but are minor: Pros: Able to be wall mounted or tripod mounted (tripod and mounting hardware is included) Simple setup Heats up very quickly Is not loud Nice display Cons: Missing place to store pin Wish there we more holes for pin to lock it at different heights The power cord is roughly 6 ft long. Out of the box, the QHA-15R Infrared Heater is very impressive and knocks it out of the park with features and 4 heat level settings. It comes with all you need to wall mount or use the accompanying tripod stand. I have wall mounted it on my screened porch at about 5ft for this review with no little fingers around to worry about. I live in south Florida and the outside temperature is now around 82°F. At 1500W and 85° settings to kick it on, I could the feel the reflective heat 15 ft across the width of my porch. This, I did not expect. With the Body Sensor feature on, it functioned at the 15ft also and though it may reach further, is good enough for my use. Nice if you go in for the night and forget to shut it down. The Smart Heating feature needs a better description in the Manual. With the above settings, I hit the Smart option, it resets to 79° and 450W and stayed there until reset again. Not sure what is going on but must somehow activate with the temperature around it. The Child Lock feature is great for thouse toddlers who love to play with remotes. Press to engage but requires a 2 step 2 buttons to disengage. This heater only operates with the remote. No touch screen. It does come with a CR2032 battery but will interchangeably use 2 AAA. Neat little wall mount holder is also included. The default temperature display is Celsius, but the Manual explains how to change to Fahrenheit. The tripod is nothing flimsy. It could probably hold a satellite dish with ease. With the leg spread at max, it’s not easily upended but not impossible. The large floating feet, unique to Maxoak, adjust to terrain and have a staking hole for those camping and picnic trips. (Stakes not included). It comes with a positioning pin for the upper tube but only one hole near the bottom end. Are the holes missing? The small locking thumb screw is inadequate at stopping the tube from sliding and also not what’s shown in the video. Keep the thumb screw but add holes to the tube for positioning with the pin. Easy fix for the manufacture and something I can do in my shop with this one. All in all, with the thumb screw a minor issue and easy fix, I feel this is still a 5-star product. ... show more

    • Wrong Size Screws in Package - I thought....

Edit #1... Turns out the screw I thought was missing was located separately in the storage bag... Crisis averted... Now I'm happy!!!... This thing looks solid... Initial review.... Spent the last hour trying to figure out why I'm having such a difficult time putting this together. Watched all the Youtube videos. Looks like the product has recently changed with some of the mounting. Unfortunately, the screw that are included are too short to be able to mount the heater on the stand. The youtube video says the screws are M6 60mm, but the ones in the package are only 45mm so aren't long enough to actually mount the heater on the stand. I ordered some additional screws to try and make this work from amazon. Just don't have the patience to wait and try and figure out customer support and slow shipping. Hopefully they make the latest model directions and hardware actually work. reviews seem to be great otherwise, but beware of incorrect parts.... ... show more

I bought this for my husband for Christmas and we have barely used it and it just sparked and stopped working this morning. Very expensive for something that doesn’t work.     • Nice heater for a cold garage.

The unit and the stand are nice and easy to assemble. The unit puts off a good amount of heat and has kept my garage warm during the two projects I've used it for. Today was around 32° F outside. I like the temperature settings. It's nice to either set it to maintain a desired temperature and let it shut off, or just set it high and let it run. The remote could be more intuitive, but does the job. Looks like some people need to look at the separate functions that the Set button provides. Eg, switching from Celsius to Fahrenheit, Child Lock and some of the advanced features. The only thing on the unit display that I would change is how the display for different power modes are represented. Going up a setting level adds two icons to the display. One icon for setting 1 , three icons for 2, five icons for 3 and seven icons for 4. It would be easier if it was one to one. Over all, I'm happy with this heater. ... show more

    • It throws heat

It’s sends good heat only where it’s pointed. If it’s in the garage, it will heat the whole garage in time but if it’s outside you’re only getting heat where it’s pointing. Remote is big/chunky, may be a good thing later when I’m looking for it. The temp gauge is in C* and I can’t get it to F*.
