  • Looks high quality...just missing the assembly hardware
I was so excited to try this out. Unfortunately, when I tried to assemble it I discovered that it didn’t come with the hardware that’s needed to put it together. Not sure how that happened. I even watched unboxing videos to see where the hardware is supposed to be located in the box. I will call the manufacturer as it says on the instructions and hopefully have the hardware sent to me. Other than that, the rest of the parts were packed nicely and look high quality. Shipping was fast and reliable. ... show more

  • Great Little Fryer
Pros: Air Fries Bakes Roasts Convection Broils Dehydrates Top Loading Cons: Thin Metal Top Shell What I received in the package: 1 x MASTERBUILT MB20013020 6-in-1 Outdoor Air Fryer 4 x Stacking Baskets 1 x Large Basket 1 x Poultry Stand 1 x Operation Manual 1 x Drain Pan This MASTERBUILT MB20013020 6-in-1 Outdoor Air Fryer product is roughly 27” x 15” x 17” (Not Including the handles) and weighs approximately 43 lbs. This outdoor fryer also allows you to add some smoke to your food items. What I liked about this product is that it acts almost like a second oven. If you don’t have one. When you unbox the Masterbuilt, you will see it is well packed. Even still I did have a few dings in the unit. The lid of the unit has a thin sheet metal shell and is VERY easily dented. So don’t rest items on it or put your weight on it. The unit comes with the base disassembled. So you have to piece it together with the unit upside-down. TIP: Place some cardboard or similar layer down to rotation the unit onto so you don’t scratch up the lid. It took roughly 30 minutes to assemble the base and complete the install. The Assembly Instructions are adequate and make up most of the Operation Manual. The actual internal cooking area is roughly 12” x 12” in diameter, which translated into a 20 quart capacity. There are a few different setups. One, using the stackable baskets for wings or vegetable, etc. Two, Use the larger basket for food items. Or three, use the large basket with the poultry stand insert. The Operation Manual is roughly 15 pages and 3 are set aside for the actual operation of the unit. Of those, 3, only 1 page is useful regarding how to use it. With that said, it is not clear exactly how it is supposed to be setup. The quick version 1. Select a Preset Button Air Fry Roast Bake Convection Broil Dehydrate 2. Then you Pre-heat the unit by selecting the desired temperature. (200 - 425 degrees F) IMO, a couple of the pages contradict each other as I take Preset as something different than the manufacturer. Which affected the end result of my first attempt to use the Masterbuilt. You will hear the fan kick in as it is warming up and at times it will stop. At first, I was not sure if it stopped working or tripped a breaker or what. Until I realized that it was just cycling off as it was at temperature. Again, the manual is sparse for information so I didn’t realize this would occur. I used a digital thermometer and a probe to get a real-time internal temp of my meat and just waited for it to finish. My first batch of wings didn’t turn out so crispy. That was my fault, as I did set the temperature correctly. I assumed that when you selected the preset button it would automatically set the temperature. But my second batch was amazing … nice juicy meat with a crisp skin. The unit did seem to cook my wings faster than in the oven. I had treated the baskets with non-stick spray but it didn’t work. Cleanup of the baskets took some time and a lot of detail work. The baskets are made a thin metal weave. So you cannot put too much pressure on them when cleaning or you will bend the baskets. It took me about 15 minutes to clean the baskets and get them back into shape. I considered using tin foil or something else but that would not allow the air to get at the meat as well. The drain pan that you install at the inside bottom of the unit catches most of the grease and filters it to the center to drain out the drain port into a catcher. The catcher/trap is under the unit integrated into the base assembly. It does not hold a lot of grease so if you have something that is going to be cooking a long time. You may want to check the trap occasionally to make sure it does not overfill. The smoker box is quite small and I would imagine would allow for a nice delicate smoke to be added to your food. I haven’t had the chance to use it yet. Once the mystery of how the unit functions is over and you understand how it works. It is a great way to free up the kitchen oven or just cook outside and get some fresh air. I really enjoyed testing out this product. It does appear to cook faster than my oven and also while it is hot to the touch. It did not burn me. So it is more child friendly than a lot of units out there. The manufacturer offer a 1-Year Warranty on this product. I appreciate you taking the time to read this. I received this product in exchange for an honest review. All in all, this is a great little product. I enjoy being able to go outside and make some wings or a chicken, etc and not have to stay in the house to watch it. While I didn’t time the cook time of my wings, it did feel like to cooked them faster than when I do it in our oven. The fryer cooked each of the wings perfectly no matter where it was in the fryer. I intend on using this a lot more during the summer. It’s easy to load and unload and I like that it is healthier way to cook. Hope this information was helpful. • Pretty good, but with some limitations.
First off, no, this isn't a verified purchase from Amazon because my local big-box store (rhymes with Mal-Wart) had this on clearance for much less. I included a picture of it on my deck so you know I really own it and use it. Heavy: This thing is a monster. I'm not even sure how Amazon can ship it and not lose money. The main body is very solidly built and should last for years. The only concern I have is with the top of the enclosure where the top meets the body. This is plastic and started showing some discoloration after the very first use. Even though this is designed to be outdoors, I strongly suggest you get a cover for it as the plastic parts will likely not stand up well to all of the UV. Outdoor: Yes, this is for outdoor and I strongly suggest you do not try to use it inside. It has a woodchip tray that can impart a great smoky flavor to whatever you are cooking and it will belch out the smoke if it gets going. A great feature of using it outside is avoiding the smell and additional heat during the summer months. Heat: Ok, the instructions tell you to keep it 10ft away from anything. The sides of the unit to get very warm, but I could hold my hand on the side after it had been running for 1 hour at 425F, so it's not that's not the reason for keeping it 10ft away from everything. The reason is if you have a fryer fire. Very hot temps and open elements in the bottom make for a fire combination that should frighten you. I store mine next to the house, but I do NOT operate it there. I also have a dry chem fire extinguisher on the deck and a fiberglass welder's blanket in case the worst happens. IF you see massive smoke or flames licking out of it DO NOT open the lid. Pull the power and get ready with your fire extinguisher and fire blanket if you have one. Quiet: I couldn't believe it, this thing is super quiet compared to our countertop air fryer. Drip Tray: I very much like the fact that it has an external drip tray so grease doesn't collect up in the bottom of the actual cooking area and reduces the possibility of smoking or fire. Only downside is that the drip plate at the bottom is non-coated aluminum and anything that drips onto it and does not drain out will fuse to it. (It's a drip tray, so who cares if it isn't super shiny clean right?) Speed: Well, I was hoping that this thing would be super fast and cook evenly, but my first outing with frozen chicken wings wasn't great. I loaded her up with about 8lbs of wings making sure there was enough airflow across the racks. It took about 1 hour at 425F to get the top two racks nice and crispy. Then I had to pull those racks and cook the rest for another 20 or so minutes. I don't mind the time, that's a lot of frozen chicken to cook off, but the uneven cook does bother me. In reality, my countertop 5L air fryer could only handle 2lbs at a time, but it would complete the cook in about 20 minutes, so speed-wise it would have been slightly faster to cook the 8lbs in 4 batches with the counter top. Construction: The body of the unit is very solid and well built. The internal wire baskets are thin wire and bend easily. They are also chromed, so they tend to have food stick pretty bad. I've combatted this a little by spraying with cooking spray. Be careful with them and they'll last a long time. Overall: Nifty little unit for the right price. ... show more
