All the Mann Lake boxes I've purchased have been well made. I do like the assembled boxes but as a beginner beekeeper using this for brood boxes, it baffles me why they don't offer this with black foundation. I have these and have used the natural foundation and now that it is drawn out I see just how hard it is to see the eggs. If I was to do it again I would buy the box separately from the foundation so I could get the black foundation. ... show more

Great option when looking to quickly expand your hives. I ordered two of these to add brood boxes which would be more compatible with nucleus hives I was purchasing. It made the transfer from nuc into hive seamless. Just as an FYI, since it was mentioned in other reviews. Two of the frames (one from each set I ordered) had their foundation misaligned. This was a quick fix as you just pop it back into place. It was not detrimental to the functioning of the frame or hive overall. It literally added a minute to my total time inspecting the box upon arrival. I highly recommend these, especially in a time crunch when you don't want (or have time) to build your own. ... show more

So far no problems. My hive expanded pretty quickly into this box. Already putting a super on top :) seems really high quality. I actually was given a summerhawk hive as a gift and ordered this to expand. I think it will fit any standard 8-frame hive, though.
