Description

The Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 7/8" SDS-Plus Rotary Hammer (model XRH04Z, tool only) delivers faster, more efficient percussive drilling to the jobsite. The versatile XRH04Z has 3-mode operation and a built-in torque limiter to ensure stable torque control for a range of concrete drilling tasks, with a more compact design and less vibration. It's part of Makita's expanding 18V Lithium-Ion series, the world's largest cordless tool line-up powered by an 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style battery. • Excellent Makita Product
Style: Rotary Hammer Only
I used to really sweat getting holes into masonry before buying this hammer drill. Now drilling screw and lag bolt holes into brick and stone is like child's play. If you have lots of holes to drill, you may want to invest in a pair of 5, 6 or even 8 amp hour batteries and a rapid charger. Giving this product five stars because I simply cannot imagine visiting a worksite for the first time without this tool in my truck. ... show more

  • Concrete eater - SDS rocks!
Style: Rotary Hammer Only
I had been drilling hole 3/16" holes in concrete with an electric hammer drill, my Makita cordless just wasn't up to the task. While the corded hammer drill was a big step up from the cordless version, it was still kind of slow and I maybe got about 10 holes per bit until it got really slow and the bit became unusable. I bought this on a whim, since I have a ton of holes to drill. My first use of this really impressed me. It takes less than 10 seconds to put a 2" deep hole in a concrete slab. My first bit lasted well over 100 holes. I finally switched it out because became it little slower and the tool would occasionally hit its torque limit. I could have probably still used it for a while. This tool will probably pay for itself in the amount of bits I won't be using! It does go through the batteries relatively quickly, but it is well worth it. ... show more

  • Heavy duty for sure

I run it for 6 hours straight and I think it's better than the plug in which I also have. Weighs about that same as plug in. Wish I had gotten this sooner!!

  • Honestly it's powerful junk.
Style: Rotary Hammer Only
Great except for where the battery attaches. That is this drills weakest point. I called makita and complained they said it shouldn't be that way get a replacement. Amazon over night shipped me a second model and i sent it back as it was the same flimsy attached battery point. Home depot had a model on display and it too had this weak attatchment point. So it is what it is. Also the chuck is flimsy feeling. This tool requires more babyish then my dozen or so 18v tools. The drill motor is VERY strong, comparable to my corded Hilti, and puts a 1.5 core through a foundation in less than 5 min. I expect more from makita but for 155$ maybe I'm expecting too much. ... show more

  • Game changing
Style: Rotary Hammer Only
Let me preface this with the fact that I've never used an sds plus compatible tool. So I don't have anything to compare it to. Before purchasing this, I'd been getting by with the regular makita drill with the "hammer" feature that came in my original set years ago. I wasn't sure how much better this would be at drilling, but I decided to pull the trigger mainly because I needed the chisel feature. I'm installing a catch basin and drilling through the 2 inch non-reinforced knockout walls. I'm drilling smaller holes around where I need the holes for the 4 and 6 inch tile, chiseling between them and knocking them out with a sledge hammer. I started drilling a few holes the other day with my old "hammer" drill and after about an hour and a drained 5 amp hour battery, I had 3.5 3/8" holes in the catch basin... That simply wasn't going to cut it, so I ordered this. I just received the rotary hammer today and had to try it out immediately. It takes about 3 seconds to drill a 3/8" hole through 2 inches of concrete with this. In about an hour of playing with it, I already have 2 of the holes for my 6 inch tile complete. So that's 10-15 holes around the perimeter for each, chiseling, knocking out the center, and chiseling some more This is working down in the mud and water as the catch basin is already set. It would be much faster if I wasn't contending with the mud and water above the bottom of the holes I'm making The rotary hammer does eat batteries and get hot, but with the amount of power it's putting out that's expected. It is also long... too long to work from the inside of the 2x2x3 catch basin. The XRH03Z would probably have been a better choice for that. ... show more
