I have been wanting a hammer drill for some time. Using a standard HD drill with concrete bits were a pain and I had a lot of drilling to do on a new barn wall. The price has always been an issue as I try to by name brand non-Chinese made tools, however I just could not pull the trigger for $300+. I saw this one and went to Lowes and Home Depot to compare and found it almost identical to most of the name brand ones, which as I should have guessed were also made in China. I am guessing the AOBEN (never heard of it before) unit is made in the same factory as the name brand drills. I figured even if it only worked for a short time I could buy several hammer drills at this price for the price of the name brand units. So, I got it and it is a great tool period. Heavily built, drills holes through concrete like butter, and have been completely pleased. Unless you are a contractor that needs super duty for day in day out (and I don't know this unit may work just fine for that?) you will not have a problem with this AOBEN drill. ... show more

    • Comparison to harbor freight bauer brand

Bought to replace a stolen harbor freight bower brand hammer drill. I found it is very comparable, identical perhaps, as far max power and as ease of use but at a slightly lower price, making the value for money the best feature for this drill. Have you used extensively and have not noticed any degradation or loss of functionality so far. Have used for breaking up concrete, concrete blocks, ripping up asphalt, drilling holes through concrete, even use the included drill chuck set with a mixing paddle to mix mortar. It has performed well and held up fine. The only consideration when comparing this to other hammer drills is the utter lack of "features". One perspective is that there are fewer components that can fail, but having a speed adjustment as there was on the harbor freight drill might be nice. I haven't missed it so far, but your application may have different requirements. More expensive drills can also have continuous speed adjustment through the trigger. This one definitely does not. All in all it's simple, capable, rugged and the price is right. ... show more

This is the best tool to have in garage. No job is too big or too small with the AOBEN power hammer. It’s guaranteed to save you a lot of money for jobs that require more than ordinary drills. So far, it has been dependable and convenient. I can’t believe it’s so affordable.

It covers what's expected - great drill, great hammer drill, and more importantly jackhammer! The hammer drill with the weight and handle behind your hold has amazing drilling capabilities. Was able to go into concrete and solid stone with no problem whatsoever - honestly, I was blown away. I've had some smaller versions of a hammer drill that really haven't produced - this one is like having the power of Thor in your hands. It's not too big and overwhelming but has enough power and weight to get most jobs done with no problem. The extras that come with this kit are 3 drill heads, 2 jackhammer plungers, and extra head, and an amazing case that has plenty of storage. Also comes with an additional 2 brush heads for the motor and lubrication oil and the head exchange wrench. Pros: - This thing is perfectly weighted in your hand whether pointing to the ground or hold straight out. Nice balance, they worked hard to make it feel great. - The power and control of the trigger are great - All of the different modes work amazing - The case is really well built - The machine feels well-built but not to heavy Cons: - It could've come with eye protection but maybe I'm over thinking this - if you're buying this, you're more than likely a pro or already have protective wear. For sure wear eye protection, I've actually found that wearing my shooting headphones is necessary when jacking up concrete - nothing unexpected there. For the money you can't go wrong - I was second guessing as soon as I hit the buy button for the cost of this hammer drill - glad I have it in my arsenal of tools now for sure. I have no idea how the manufacturers can build sell this tool for under $100. It is a very strong and complex tool, and includes some accessories. It is comparable to competitors tools that sell for $400 to $900. Granted, this tool is missing a couple of features of the more expensive ones, namely (a) you have to replace the brushes (others are brushless); and (b) you have to lubricate this (others are more permanently lubricated). TIP: Lubricate this before each use with lithium grease (not oil). The switches are hard to figure out: the 3-choice selector knob positions are: (1) Hammer icon: Chisel mode, much like a mini jackhammer; (2) Circle icon: unlock chisel to rotate it (middle position); and (3) Hammer/drill icon: hammer-drill for concrete/rock. You only use the middle knob position to rotate the chisel to the desired angle; after rotating, turn the knob back to the chisel position (hammer icon). There is a second switch near the trigger - this 2nd switch is used in the hammer-drill mode: it turns the hammering action on or off (so you can do plain drilling, such as through wood). My only complaint about this tool is the user manual that comes with it... it is for some other tool, apparently a chisel tool from the same company. And it uses the word "oil" when is should say "lithium grease". ... show more
