  • Needs better instructions
Size: 2.5L with Solenoid
The top of the canister says do not unscrew. Well I did and dang near needed to change my underwear. On others that is how you regulate the pressure going to the bubble counter. Well not this one on turn four trying to figure out what it actually did it went flying with a load boom. So I learned the hard way this on does it have that feature. Lol. I read everything I could trying to figure it out. So turn it all the way on and leave it alone. It has a spring and plunger and two tiny holes but I still have no idea how it works because the instructions just pretend it’s not there and could not find anyone talking about this specific product online. Other than that it works and comes with all the hardware you will need. I would recommend buy some better suction cups things for the tube. The hose is really stiff and want to come out of the ones it comes with. ... show more

  • Simple and convenient
Size: 4L with Solenoid
Been using this for exactly 1 year now and the product is easy to setup and super convenient. I followed the instructions directly on the bottle for the amount of Baking Soda, Citric Acid and Water. I get about 4 weeks worth of Co2 running about 5-6 BPS on a 56 gallon tank. It takes about 20 minutes to clean and refill every month and saves me a trip from having to refill a pressurized unit. Definitely recommend for the convenience alone. ... show more

  • Good Quality with Design Issues
Size: 2.5L with Solenoid
Pros: The quality seems to be good, no leak so far Cons: It has some design issues. 1. The solenoid power wire is horizontally to the right, in engineering point of view, this is a poor design, the power cable can break in the long run. it has a heat shrink and zip tie to hold the wire but this is not a solution. The power cable must be vertically down. 2. It does not come with base as any other CO2 generator, the moist from the CO2 tank can damage the stand. Edit: After the first used, the pressure monitor stays on red, it will not reset to zero, the needle has never set to acceptable pressure after a new refill. I guess, I have to wait over night in order for the pressure at the acceptable level. ... show more

  • Works well with a modifications
Size: 4L with Solenoid
This creates about 5 weeks of CO2 for my 14 gallon heavy planted aquarium. The modification was replacing the gages. The ones it comes with are about the size of a nickel and you can't tell the difference between 150 psi and 75 psi. I put 2 inch gages on it and it works much better. The only other thing is cleaning the inside after each batch of CO2. It leaves behind some crystals. I soak mine in white vinegar for about 2 hours and it will come out with some work but no where in the directions does it mention crystals forming. If you didn't clean them out after about 4 batches it would be half full of crystals and not store as much CO2. ... show more

  • Easy to use and lasts for months
Size: 4L with Solenoid
I wanted co2 on my planted tank for quite a while so when I saw these I jumped on it. I bought the 4l version for a 36gal tank. Looking back I could have gotten the smaller one, but I would have to recharge more often. I think the little one would be maxed out on roughly a 50gal tank. The process is simple - add baking soda, add citric acid, and add ice. The ratio shown on the bottle will work but a 1.3 ratio for acid works better. Check out my photo where I wrote how much of each ingredient I used and it yielded me almost 500psi. Also use ice in place if water for more pressure. The first time I mixed it I put the dry ingredients in and then the water and WOW the amount of air (co2) that rushed out as I tried to put the cap in was unbelievable. That mix yielded about 400psi so the ice gives me 100psi more usable CO2. I am running about 1bubble per sec and the unit is on about 12 hours a day and the first tank lasted about 3 months. With the higher pressure I hope to get an extra month out of it. Overall quality is nice. Super easy to clean and very easy to use. The ingredients for it are also relatively cheap. I bought 5lbs Millard citric acid for $25 (the bigger bag is cheaper per unit) and this should last me about 3 recharges or roughly a year. Baking soda is cheap and sold at Walmart or Lowe's in the pool section cheap. Both chemicles are safe enough to eat so no worries about dangers (citric acid is the sour taste in sour patch gummies and other candies and baking soda is in toothpaste and some baked products). Overall a cool system at a good price and a fun little experiment to do with kids. ... show more

  • Works as it’s meant to.
Size: 4L with Solenoid
This works. My plants have really picked up! Since it does what it says, I give it a 3 star “meets expectations.” Where it falls short of being better are: The directions, the flimsy suction cups, the too small funnel and the too small measuring cup. The directions are pictures only and don’t match the unit I bought. The directions are for one that has the solenoid already attached to the bubble counter.. had to figure out how to set up the 2 pieces that didn’t match the picture. It has a filter…had NO idea where to put that. (Just watched a random CO2 set up video for another brand and MIGHT have an idea now…I’ll try it when the CO2 needs remaking. The suction cups don’t hold on to the tubing. It slips right out. The funnel is tiny and you can’t get baking soda- which tends to clump- through it without sifting it. The measuring cup does not hold 600 grams of material. So, that adds extra steps. If it hadn’t been for a very nice Amazon Support person, I probably would’ve given up in frustration and sent it back. He was able to find a video on an older model- one that came with a larger funnel, by the way- that helped me make sense of it and get it up and running. Now, it’s working well, I’m getting a few weeks of CO2 without having to deal with cylinder exchanges. (OH! I’ve JUST remembered to add a funnel and bigger plastic measuring cup to today’s shopping list!). And, maybe I’ll get that filter in there and be able to go a bit longer between having to add the mix to it. I THINK that’s what that’s for, anyway…. ... show more
