I got this D-NYX self-fusing silicone rubber tape to wrap electrical wires and other things, with similar uses to heat-shrink tubing but where it wasn't easy/possible to slide heat-shrink over the section. I've never used this kind of tape before and so far it's worked well and I expect to find other uses for it. Wrapped on something it isn't sticky to other things, just good friction/grip. I used some in place of heat-shrink tape on a wire end where I couldn't fit shrink over, and it worked very well. I kept it stretched while wrapping and it conformed well to the shape of the connector. It sticks to itself very well. When I try to peel it away, it will not come un-stuck from itself. If I pull hard enough the tape stretches and finally snaps, but never coming un-stuck. I sprayed rubbing alcohol on it but that didn't loosen the stickiness either. Note that it doesn't literally fuse; you can still see the layers of tape over each other, they are just stuck together so well they can't be separated. I tested some by holding a few inches over a gas burner for 15 seconds or so until it was about to melt. There was no damage to it, no stretching, no loosening, no reduction in self-bonding.     • Good value for self-sticking silicone tape
I used this tape to repair a spot on the electrical supply cord to one of my appliances. The outer insulation was damaged, but the inner conductors were unharmed. I used this silicone tape to wrap the spot I had damaged. After following the instructions, stretching it around the damage, and sticking the tape to itself, it protected the inner wires and provided a sound, flexible repair. After being on the wire for about a minute, it strongly stuck to itself and could not be removed. This is the behavior I expected, and I am pleased with it. The tape is easy to work with and does not stick to other objects or your hands when you are working with it. I like it, and it is a really good value. Well, the header line is a reminder for me to pay more attention to the description. I thought I had ordered self adhesive silicone tape but this is not! It does adhere to itself but not onto other surfaces. I had hoped to seal of a rip in a water bucket but this does not work. After watching a few videos I then used it for what it is intended for. If you wrap it around a hose or cable to make it weather tight and stretch it while doing this it will seal on itself. I would not trust it to hold pressure from a water hose but if you have connection that you want to seal off from the environment it works pretty well. I can also see how this improves grip on equipment when you wrap it around a handle. ... show more

I was needing to repair leaks on my shop vac hose and my buddy told me that this tape was what I needed. He was not wrong. When I first opened the package, I was wondering how the tape would adhere because it does not feel like it’s got adhesive properties but once you wrap it around whatever you’re trying to seal, overlapping over the tape onto itself as you go, it magically adheres super tight to itself. This is a really cool tape. The tape itself feels like a thin strip of silicone, and does not actually feel sticky, not until you stick it to itself, as it really grabs itself tightly, but it is also nice that you can unstick it, and make adjustments easily. It has a nice stretch to it, yet feels strong and sturdy. It really does stick to itself very nicely. That is why the roll of tape has a thin strip of clear plastic which separates the layers of tape on the roll, preventing it from sticking to itself until it is used. This tape fused only to itself, so for wrapping a pipe or a hose it's great, but not useful otherwise. It ships with a plastic sheet isolating the layers in the roll. Stretched and wrapped around a pipe, it really is quite amazing for making repairs.

This is a solution to problems I never realized I had. the effortless way this thing works is baffling. You start by using it like a regular tape. However, you will notice it is not sticky at all. After that, when it touches itself, bam! it sticks to the other tape like crazy. It is also very stretchy and fixable. You will need scissors to cut it for sure. This is very useful for plenty of applications, in the kitchen, repair, basement issues, and even for some light fun in the bedroom. The only con.
