Updated: 8/28/2023 I received a replacement unit from GMM shipped directly to my home. It is the exact model that I originally purchased. I was delighted to have the unit accept my M.2 NVMe, which was immediately recognised by my system. It has a very impressive throughput speed, and is every bit as delightful as my original purchase. I have tried it on multiple systems, and each one sees the drive and performs as expected. The unit is quiet, I'd say silent, but I know that at some time the cooling fan will kick in, and I'll get a sense of total operational sound levels. Based on the immediate response of GMM to my warranty issue, I can provide an unequivocal recommendation for the company and the product. We've all had items fail during the warranty period, but the after market service is what makes a product stand apart. I will not hesitate to buy this unit, or any future developed product from GMM. I am raising my rating from 1 Star (due to failure) to 5 Star, based on product performance, and company customer service. Very nice job, GMM. I was really impressed with this unit out of the box. Installation instructions were simple, easy to follow, and it provided me with several months of use, allowing me to turn my SSD into fast, portable storage. Easily recognized by Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems…I was a happy camper. I connected it maybe 12 times…and then it simply stopped working. I have external USB drive controllers that support IDE drives that continue to work, but this unit…my first external SSD controller is just a pretty paperweight. If anyone knows how to reach the seller for warranty support, assuming their advertised 12 month warranty is valid, I’d be most grateful. ... show more

Installation was easy. Drive slips into socket easily. There's no screw or rubber bit to hold it in at the other end. Took a second to figure out to just hold tge tab back with a thumbnail, lower drive end, let go, and drive feels securely in place. Close case, lock. No tools needed. Easy. The RGB lites serve a purpose. Plugged in, they're on steady, switching colors. Drive working, they're chaser lights. Useful not to have to stay on progress screen to determine when data transfer finishes. When transfer completes, lights go from.chaser back to solid. I purchased another (blue) drive also. Returning that. Terrible quality. This is much more solid. Only complaint is speed. Using a Samsung 970 EVO-plus drive, supplied USB c cord, and a new, fast Lenovo laptop. Transfer speed varies between 40 and 20 mb/s. MUCH slower than drive advertises. But keeping it because the RGB is cool and useful and construction seems solid. ... show more

I'm using this adapter for my Samsung 1 TB 980 Pro NVMe SSD thru a USB-C 3.1 port on my HP Victus laptop. The read/write speeds are impressive. For me, it's like adding an internal SSD thru an external very high speed external USB-C port. I'm very pleased with the results.

Just received this and tested. USB cables provided, C-C and A-C. Have poor quality C connectors. First two pictures show C connectors. They appear to missing an inner sleeve or it is very thin. This causes them to be loose and not make connection. Third picture shows a good C connector on cable that I already have. Tempted to return, but I installed new SSD and initialized using my good cable. MFR should do a better job sourcing and testing parts. How about sending me some quality cables. Other than the cables, adapter works for the 2280 style SSD I purchased. UPDATE 08/19/2023: Customer support responded to refund or replace purchase. Since the issue is just with the cables supplied, I'll continue to use with my known good cables. There is no issues with enclosure/adapter. If they want to send me quality cables, that would be acceptable. I gave them 5 stars since they responded. ... show more

6/9/23 - The company/seller reached out to me and offered me a full refund. (Please read below for the original review) I did refuse the refund as I do like the item and still using it. I do not use it on the go anymore do to the M.2 becoming unsecured, but I still like it. My review should not stop anyone from trying it, as all you have to do is reach out to the company/seller as they actually care if your unhappy with it. Just for that, I am adding a star to my original rating. I do have a few M.2 enclosures, and this one, despite its issues, seems to be one of the faster USB-C enclosures and I like the RBG lighting element also. Original Review - Has a nice weight to it, but it does have its issues. The first issue I have had was once you open it to install a M.2 in it, it can be very hard to slide it back together as it only can go in one way and there is no indications on which way. Also, if you carry it around with you, the cheap little clip that holds the full size M.2 in is not very good, and I have had the M.2 pop up on it and come disconnected causing a drive not recognized fault. They give you a sticky heat transfer tape, but it catches when sliding the m.2 back in to the shell causing it to peel up, and if you have any kind of labels on your M.2 (like Samsung 980 pros have) you can stay goodbye to them when you remove the heat transfer tape. ... show more
