The lamps arrived in a smaller box than I expected. They were packed well with no damage to the sections. You do have to assemble them, but it was really fast and I didn't need any tools. The lamp shades were the easiest I have ever put together. The feel good and sturdy. Other reviews mentioned they look tilted. Possibly, but that could be remedied by putting a small piece of cardboard under one side. I like that the post that holds the lamp shade can be adjusted to the direction you want. It doesn't have to be over the base, it can be to one side or the other if desired. For the light the switch is a fluid motion, not a click to each brightness, but a gradual turn of the button so you can really get it as dim or bright as you want. This is a bedside lamp set. I agree with everybody else about the quality and value of this lamp. It's primo. That said, whoever engineered packing this lamp in the way it was packed to conserve space, is a genius and should be working at NASA. Unbelievable. Very simple to put together. The shade needs to be assembled too, but it's very simple - just be sure you read the assembly directions, (especially men who never read directions,) so you get the right circular hoop on the top end of the shade that is connected to the light bulb socket. I think it goes together much more easily if you velcro the circle of material closed, and then put the Hoops in it. Very simple. The media could not be loaded. Gorgeous lamps they have a perfect height for nightstand lamps. Took me ten minutes to set both up. I love that they are dimmable and have the usb slots for my phone charger 10/10 recommend

I was excited for these, but the light they put out is dismal, and you can’t use a regular lightbulb because it makes a buzzing sound. Too low for bedside lamps in my opinion, too much of a PIA to try and send back.
