  • WARNING: Will NOT work with most popular fan brands
Color: White Style: Wireless Fan Speed Control
I find it very misleading that nowhere on any marketing materials do they tell you that this will not work with Hunter or Casablanca fans. These are two of the most popular brands in the marketplace. The tech support agent was helpful, but quick to blame Hunter/Casablanca for adding some tech to their fans to specifically block 3rd party integrations. This was/is a known limitation of this switch, but this information is nowhere to be found prior to purchasing. What a waste of time. ... show more

  • Convenient, but speeds could be better spaced.
Color: White Style: Wireless Fan Speed Control
I've installed dozens of Lutron Caseta switches and dimmers in both my current and previous home, and they are rock solid reliable. I expect this fan control to follow that trend. Prior to installing this fan control, I had a Caseta on/off switch for my fan (and a separate Caseta dimmer for the light). This meant I could use Siri (or Alexa or Google Home) to turn the fan on and off, setup automations to automatically turn the fan on or off, and of course, do the same from the wall switch. But to change the speed of the fan, I'd still have to use the pull chain. With the Caseta Fan Control, that's no longer the case: I can not only turn the fan on and off, but control the speed, from the wall switch, Siri, and so on. That's a big boost in convenience, and as trivial as it might sound, not having pull chains hanging from my fan improves the aesthetics. The fan has four speeds: low, medium, medium high, and high (in Apple HomeKit, these show as 25, 50, 75, and 100%). And it's here that there's room for improvement: Low is extremely slow. Medium should probably be low. Medium high should be medium. And high is my fan's maximum speed, which on this particular fan at least, is quite high. If the fan isn't perfectly balanced, it will wobble and make noise (that's a function of my fan, not this switch). I'd like a speed between Medium High and High, and I'll probably never use the Low speed because it is very, very slow. A few things to keep in mind: If your fan has a light, make sure you have separate wiring for the fan and the light; this won't work if you currently have a single switch that has both. Also note that this requires neutral wiring, but this shouldn't be an issue unless your home is many decades old. All in all, I'd recommend this and the Caseta line in general. I just wished the speeds on the fan were better spaced apart. UPDATE: If you have existing Pico remotes you were hoping to use with this, you're out of luck. Neither the dimmer Pico (five button) nor on/off Pico (two button) remotes work with this fan control. You'll have to get the new fan control Pico, which I have not tested at this time. When using Siri, you can say "Set fan to 25/50/75/100", "Set fan to 25%/50%/75%/100%" or "Set fan to low/medium/very high". For some reason "Set fan to high" does not work; you have to use "100%" or "very high". If you say "medium high," Siri will respond affirmatively, but this is actually sets the speed to "medium". So the only way to set medium high is with 75 or 75%. If Lutron addresses the speed and Siri quirks, this product would be just about perfect. The Pico issue is less important, though I do have extra Pico remotes around I'd rather put to use instead of buying a new product. UPDATE 2: August 2019: You actually can pair the Pico dimmer remote to the fan, just not through the app. To do this, first push and hold the bottom (off) button on the Fan Control until the LEDs on the left start blinking. Then, push and hold the bottom button on the Pico until its LED starts blinking. Give it a few seconds, and then the two are paired. You'll now see the Pico in the app; it'll be named something like "Unnamed Pico Remote" and not assigned to a room. You can edit the name and assign it a room and it will remain paired to your fan control switch. ... show more

  • Doesn’t work with a light/fan combo. Only a fan
Color: White Style: Wireless Fan Speed Control
I bought this for my bedroom that has a ceiling fan/light combo. I was shocked to find that this won’t work for a fan/light combo and Lutron still has NO SOLUTION for this type of fan that is by far the most common type of ceiling fan sold. They made such a big deal about fixing this problem. They didn’t fix anything. They came out with a super over-priced switch for a FAN ONLY. I don’t know anyone that owns a ceiling fan without a light on it. Total fail. Will be returning this for a refund and removing the Lutron Caseta switch and installing something that works with a ceiling fan/light combo. ... show more

  • Smart fan control from the company with the best residential smart switches
Color: White Style: Wireless Fan Speed Control
So glad that lutron finally released these. I have about 15 caseta light switches throughout and ordered two of the fan switches as soon as they were available. Setup was easy. It adds four fan speeds, low/med/med-hi/high. Also works well with my Alexa. Only comment is that the center "favorite preset" button seems a little useless. On light switches it's great because you can set it to anywhere between 1 and 100%, but on a fan switch with only 4 speed options, it seems a little unnecessary. Update after a week of having these: still very happy with them. I can say "Alexa set the ceiling fan to high" and it works flawlessly. The 4 fan speeds are a little different than the 3 speeds I had before on a traditional fan speed switch. I'd say if the old 3 speed switch was 0%/33%/67%/100%, this one is 0/25/50/75/100. The "low" is very slow, but still enough to move a little air around. I mostly use the "medium" and "high" settings. I also have a pico scene remote by the bedside where the "goodnight" setting automatically turns the light off and the fan on. As another reviewer said, keep in mind you must have separate wiring for the fan and the light. This will not work if you only have one live wire going to your fan/light combo. I have caseta switches on both and they work flawlessly. Another reviewer commented on the switch using a screw terminal for the live wire instead of a stranded wire coming out of the switch which has been typical for Caseta, but that didn't bother me at all. ... show more

  • Speed selection not very good
Color: White Style: Wireless Fan Speed Control
Lutron has finally come out with a fan speed control. I have several Caséta switches in my house for light dimmers and fan switches, so I was ecstatic for a fan speed control finally. Install was easy. Ground, line, load, and neutral. For some reason Lutron has the line wire screws wrapped or back stabbed, with the rest connecting into the wire nuts in the switch box. There are 4 speeds: Low, Medium, Medium-High, and High. However these are inaccurate descriptions. More accurate names would be Very low, very low, low, and high. On a 1 to 10 scale, the speeds would probably be described: Low: 1.0 Medium: 1.1 Medium-high: 2.5 High: 10 Low and medium are completely indiscernible. Other than the speed selections, switch works great. Easy integration into the hub and Alexa. ... show more

  • Works great, but you will need to upgrade your wire smashing ninja skills.
Color: White Style: Wireless Fan Speed Control
Like all Caseta products, these work great. However, I thought I had mastered the art of installing Lutron switches, but these leave even LESS room for the wires than the four wire switch - so be prepared to mess with the wires for a while to get them jammed in..
