Description

Durable and maintenance-free, Oakmont doors are a perfect choice for any room. They are crafted of energy-efficient, double wall vinyl panels with flexible vinyl hinges. Finish coated with scratch-resistant, clear UV varnish, The doors fit openings from 24″ to 36″ wide by 80″ high and trim easily to any height. Vinyl panels may be removed for door openings less than 36″ wide. You can also install Oakmont as a double door, using two single doors. From the Manufacturer The Oakmont folding door is crafted of energy efficient, double wall vinyl panels made with a safe non leaded vinyl formulation and have flexible hinges. Available in wood finishes with scratch- resistant, clear UV varnish coating. Door fits openings from 24 inch to 36 inch wide by 80 inch high and includes 36 inch of track. very nice. had to trim it to fit a 36x40" opening under my stairs. Went better than I thought it would. make sure if you shorten it, remove all the retaining screws from the part you are discarding and reinstall them on the bottom of the part you keep or it may fall apart.

This is a very nice product for the price. We needed a closet door for an unusual size, and all the other options I found were much more expensive. My wife and I installed this ourselves in about 2 hours. You will need a level, drill, pencil, and measuring tape. If you have a lot of experience with this sort of thing you can probably do it faster. Removing the panels is very easy if you need a narrower width. The pictures do not do the product justice. Packaging: Received with a crack just above the handle, but since it was not an expensive door and I was anxious to get some privacy in my new pandemic office in the basement, I did not put in for a replacement. NBD Installation: Probably not bad if the length it comes is just what you need, but I needed to trim the bottom of mine with a hack aw which meant removing 20 little retaining screws and trimming everything per the instructions before putting the screws back in and mounting on the door frame. Durability: Here's where the product really failed me. From the constant bending motion the ten rubberized strips that act as hinges started splitting at both the top and bottom. 6 of 10 are split at the top and three of 10 are split at the bottom. I also have one at the bottom that is completely pulling out of the plastic because the plastic panel cracked. Yes, someone may have bumped it with their shoe or it may have snagged on something, but anything mildly sturdy should have held up from the use it's received. Bottom line: If you're purchasing this to just spruce up a home you're going to sell within the next few months, this is your door! If you want a cheap door that you're not going to open and close, this is also a great option. But if you want a door that you plan on using for more than a few months, I would steer clear of this one. ... show more

The image on Amazon is not all that great, so I was worried. We didn't want to punch holes in the new hardwood that my son laid for us. However, we took a chance, and they not only match the new hardwood floors, but blend the darker grain throughout blend the original dark woodwork with the light oak hardwood so we don't feel the need to replace it. Son put the door up in about 20 minutes, with plenty of room to avoid scratching the floors, and collapse to a very small size when open-giving better access to the closet than the old bi-fold doors. Husband loves them! There were a couple of tiny flaws, a ding in the door edge that caused slight discoloration, and a tiny crack at the top of one of the panels. These are difficult to see unless you go looking for them (because the wood grain pattern hides the flaws). We are really pleased with these doors! ... show more

For the very modest amount of money that I paid to buy this folding "closet" door (I installed it in an actual in-house doorway to cut down on draftiness from an un-insulated adjoining room at my Mom's home that was built in the early 1900s), it is excellent, attractive, and was easy to install with the enclosed directions. I would use better screws than the ones that came with mine, if I were you. They are about an inch long, but the Phillips head screw tops are too weak to keep from stripping them when cinching down on them to mount the top hanger piece and the side channel pieces. So get about 15 to 20 better screws before you start the installation, and you should be quite satisfied with (and proud of) the result. (My Mom sure was.) I was in no hurry, and probably had it up and finished in less than an hour. Some other reviewers had complained about the boxed door being damaged when they received it. Mine was well packed and had cushioning at the top and bottom ends of the packed folding door, and was in perfect condition, with no parts missing. ... show more

    • Shortened and narrowed it, works great so far!

It's a small house with small doorways so I shortened it about 2.5" and narrowed it about 8" with little problem except there are no instructions about how to do it. To do either, first notice the screws along the bottom. To shorten it, I taped it securely closed with masking tape, measured and marked carefully, then took a hacksaw to it. I then removed the screws from the bottom of the cut portion and replaced them into the door. To narrow it, you have to remove a whole fold, 2 panels, about 8-9 inches, to keep it folding properly. Remove the screws from the bottom of the parts you are removing, slide the piece out, then slide the rest back together, then replace the screws. The remaining instructions to install it aren't great, but good enough. The Spanish and English portions are a bit mixed up with each other, so be sure to keep both parts until you're done. Looks okay, the white stain works for us, but it's by far shiniest thing in the house. What's important is my mother's rolling walker will get through the house easier while still defeating the cat at night. ... show more

Bought 4 units for 3 doors (one double). Contrary to numerous other reviews each 48" door panels were well packaged with styrofoam pads on either end and were boxed. Ltl Home Products have scads of informational videos on Youtube showing you how to install. The installations went easily My only objection and the reason only 4 stars was the finish. The finish is somewhere between semi-gloss and gloss (see photo). This really gives them a plastic appearance which they are. All other wood trim in each room (doors, window casings, baseboard) are matte. Something you do need to know in making your final decision. ... show more
