    • Not to Sound Melodramatic, but Love Warrior Is Life Changing
You know the girl... Or at least you know her type... The one who lies awake worrying about everything under the sun. The one who knows they're highly sensitive, yet unable to retain close relationships. The one who loves hard, with intensity, yet waits for people to leave... The one who is beautiful, yet she doesn't really believe it. The one who hides their pain behind makeup—who seem relegated to speaking in a code that only women who buy $400 Rick Owens T-shirts, dark, obscure designer sunglasses & $500 ballet flats, are able to understand... Although I'd pre-ordered, I wasn't sure what exactly I'd find. To be frank, I'd not heard of Ms. Melton, her blog, or anything else. I simply found the description interesting. This was the first book aside from my art & photography books, that absolutely blew me away! I think I got through 6% of it before I texted one of my friends & said, 'Oh my god, I just started reading this book and it's amazing! This was so write for us... I'm sending you the Kindle version!' I don't believe I've ever done that with a book I've not read in its entirety. As I'm a fast reader & I finished it in under 24 hours, but don't assume it's because it was a fun, beach read. Love Warrior is poignant, refreshingly honest & for better or worse, I'd venture a guess that even those of who are single (myself & my friend included) will see themselves in all too many of these pages. For me, the topic transcends gender in how we communicate. It varies from couple-couple, person-person, but here's the bottom line: it's time to unlearn everything you thought you knew about love & intimacy. Open hearts & open minds are our best resource & Ms. Melton's writing is such that you're glued to the page, saying, 'Holy s*it, she's writing about my life.' I'm the type of person who can stay awake for hours & wonder why I'm even here, what's the point of life, why didn't I? why don't I?... You get the idea. Upon finishing last night, I actually texted my ex whom I dearly love. What did I say? Well... I won't paste that here, but essentially, I told him I finally understood a difference between love & intimacy. We have both, yet amazingly, in the time we've been apart, it's the intimacy that's grown. While I haven't any expectations, it was the kind of moment where I was both thrilled, yet simultaneously wanted to cry because it was as if I was given a golden ticket that had shown me how everything went oh so wrong. Simply put, if you find yourself struggling & unable to break out of a funk, depression, and worse... Wonder what's 'wrong' with you, you need to read this book. Love Warrior reads like a novel, yet it retains the vulnerability of a memoir. Better still, it was beyond refreshing that Ms. Melton didn't opt to portray herself as perfect & her husband the enemy. She keeps everything concise, while guiding the reader through a story of love, loss, redemption, deeper love & commitment, & intimacy. I've read plenty of books about love & relationships, and ultimately, while this may be Ms. Melton 's personal story, the wisdom is far better than any I've read I relationship books written by the so-called 'experts.' It's human. It's relatable. It doesn't claim to have all the answers, yet it seemingly delivers something that feels as though it's getting quite close. Needless to say, I highly recommend Love Warrior. It's easily the best book I've read in 2016. ... show more

    • Answer to a prayer
I started following Glennon`s writings through Facebook and quickly started to fall in love with this amazingly wonderfull, nakedly real, relatable, loving and wise woman. This book of her life enabled me to see how that wisdom came to be. After over five decades of living, I've come to the point of re-examining my programming and some of my deepest beliefs. I've learned that some of these deepest beliefs I have relied on my whole life have been untrue. That's a very disconcerting time in a person's life (also oddly exciting as I begin to learn that there is more and better out there). I've been on this journey of spiritual rediscovery for about a year now and though I can say I am learning, I know I'm not done yet. Just the day before I started reading this book, I had been praying again for further guidance , and greater truth. I'd actually forgotten that I ordered the ebook until it appeared in my Kindle. I have other books I've wanted to read and even one I was in the middle of, but I felt impressed to read this one now. It was my "next right thing to do," as Glennon says. The whole story is good, and her writing, as usual, is beautiful and insightful, but the most impactful chapters for me were the ones near the end that contained her epiphanies. They had me choking back tears the whole time. Her spiritual epiphanies were exactly the answers that I have been seeking and that have actually already been delivered to me in various ways as I try to internalize them. She is another angel in my path. She has fought and worked hard for the clarity she now has - the "Love Warrior" title is perfect. She has turned, again and again to her deepest and truest source for direction, and has taught me how to do that better as well. Glennon is one of those women on my short list of people I'd love to be best friends and have long talks with. This book is the next best thing. ... show more
