I got this for my 93 year old mother who has rotator cuff shoulder pain and alot of arthritis. Putting on anything with sleeves causes her a great deal of pain, and Missouri winters require a coat. This just slips around her shoulders and wraps closed. There's a button for a closure, but there's enough fabric that we just wrapped the right side over her left arm and shoulder, like you would a long rectangular shawl. She's 5 feet tall and quite bent over, but can wear this outside with her walker and still be able to go places and stay warm. It covers her well, but not so much that it drags to the ground when she is bent over, walking. It's pretty and reversible, chocolate brown and camel tan. I was looking for a warm cape or poncho to wear after shoulder surgery and beyond. This minimal style is indeed warm. It's reversible, sort of a double-knit rather than two separate layers, and is low-pile and dense, but soft. I decided against it for two reasons: 1) It's TOO minimal--no buttons or pockets--and would be had to hold together when one arm is in a sling, and 2) it's extremely voluminous and best on a tall, slim woman. ... show more

I ordered the larger size and it was plenty roomy and long. Very well manufactured and heavier weight than expected. You still need a coat/jacket underneath for temps 30-40 and below but is very stylish and reversible so be sure to flip one side over your shoulder to achieve a very classy look.
