I put in .030 wire at first and I will tell you do not do this. The machine didn't work at all I was so disappointed I thought I got one crappy machine. So I went to the store when I ran out of wire and bought .035 and this thing worked incredibly. I welded 3/16 angle iron to 1/4 inch steel in my penetration was incredible. I love this little welder. It's not the most powerful, but it makes up for it's deficiencies with its weight, and portability. I use this thing for small welds on my ATV's and Projects around my garage.
