    • The shade gets hot quick and turns half transparent when the light is turned on

-The shade gets hot quickly with 40 watt bulb. I worry it will melt one day like the other buyers said. The base says 40 watt max, but the sticker inside the shade says 60 watt. -The shade turns half transparent when the light is on. This is a bit disturbing to the eyes. -The lamp is plastic but well built. But the shade I received is a bit defective. When the light is turned on, I see a vertical line half way cross the shade. When the light is off, the line disappears. Not sure if this is what other buyers' complaints of scratches. But I wouldn't bother to return it or get a replace. With all that said, I like its compartments. Not pretty, but functional for me. For those who only use the lamp for a short time every time, I even recommend it for its sale price at $11.50. ... show more

I love this lamp. My desk is very small, and this works perfectly for what I needed it for. It holds a fair number of pens and has storage for all your other needs. I also really like the phone holder. 10/10 would purchase again.

    • You Can Store Stuff In This Lamp

This lamp has a surprisingly good build quality considering the cheap price. I like the storage compartments. I have a store, and because I have a store, I like to store things for the store in the storage compartments. Here is a list of the things I have in my lamp's storage compartments, to give you an idea of what you might want to store in there, too. Mailbox keys (I get a lot of junk mail and bills and credit card offers, mostly) Square credit card reader (It's good to use the swiper because you'll get charged a lot more if you physically type in the number for some reason) One bic pen, one mechanical pencil, and another pen I found in a casino An invoice booklet (for when I sell things at my store) Two pennies that I found in the parking lot a couple weeks ago A competing credit card swiper that promises to charge less than Square, but I haven't tried it yet A personalized business stamp (it says: All Sales Final, No Cash Refund, Store Credit Only) The lamp accommodates a standard light bulb. You can use a soon-to-be-banned incandescent bulb, a CFL bulb, or an LED bulb. I'm using a 40W equivalent LED bulb that uses 6W of energy, so I can feel good about being a wastrel. The power switch has a solid feel to it, and if you enjoy tactile pleasures such as the switches in German automobiles, you'll probably rate this switch a 7 or 7.5 out of 10. The adjustable nature of this lamp means you can direct light toward your desk or up at the wall if you're into that sort of thing. I never write one star reviews, but I had to in this case. I really loved this lamp at first that I bought a second one a week later. It was so inexpensive and compact and I really liked the tray that came with convenient little trays at the base. However, only a few days into owning these lamps, the base that holds the bulbs in place popped out so that the bulbs were no longer affixed into the center of the lamp shade but dangled by the cord making the bulb rest against the shade instead of hold steady in the center without touching the shade. I was annoyed, but it wasn't a deal breaker because I thought that I could just readjust the shade and make it point straight up so that the bulb could just rest in the center. But when I tried to use the lights, the bulb would inevitable fall against the shade at some point. The bulbs burn so hot that they burned against the shade and warped the plastic until they were misshapen and burned. A hole was even burned into the bulb itself. I'm afraid these lamps could cause a fire or some other kind of damage or injury. See the photos. ... show more
