I ordered this vacuum because I was thinking that it would be a handy little gadget to have in my work area. It did not disappoint. It came with a 20 volt Lithium ion battery and charger. The base cannister is made from sturdy metal. The first test of the vacuum was to pick up sand in the trunk of my car from a recent beach trip. It had no problems handling this as it had plenty of suction. The battery life was more than adequate to vacuum the whole inside of the car with power to spare. The battery itself has a a charge indicator to show how much power is left (sort of like a fuel gauge). The product is billed as being good for cleaning up ashes, but I have not tried it in that capacity. So far, just the sand and some sawdust in the shop. I think I will continue to enjoy this item. The only negative thing I could say is that it comes with no tools. Just a hose and a rigid tube. I would have liked more options. But it is a very nice vacuum nonetheless. I can recommend it. I love the LIGO cordless ash can. It makes cleaning my grill so much easier. It also comes in handy for all of those jobs where a big canister vacuum can't fit in small spaces. The battery stays charged for a while. I used it for at least 45 minutes without it dying on me. I used the can to clean the grill and then used it to clean around the storage racks in my garage. We've been using this around the house as a normal shop vac, and in that capacity, it works very well! Our senior cat is getting on in years, and he leaves litter everywhere in our basement. It is a pain to take our main vacuum cleaner downstairs and upstairs repeatedly, plus the wear and tear of heavy duty cleaning on a household vacuum is less than ideal. The battery-operated nature of this vacuum makes it ideal for that job, as well as cleaning up our garage. Speaking of, the battery is pretty great. I got The LIGO 20V Cordless Ash Dust Vacuum Cleaner for my fireplace since I rather use this ash vacuum than ruining my expensive house vacuum. I like to use the fireplace especially when the power goes out in cold weather, normally I would wait for the ashes to cool down and would use a regular dust collector and a broom to clean out the ashes. This process is very messy and sends fine ashes all over the place. The LIGO Ash Dust Vacuum is perfect for my fireplace, it really beats using the shop vac as well. It is perfectly designed to handle messy fine ash dust, it is powerful and safe to use as well. I love the fact that it's cordless, if I need to run outdoors with it, or use it outdoors I can without having to deal with cords. This is my second ash vacuum, and I was excited about it because my first one worked so well. Unfortunately, this one not so much. It is very lightweight, mostly plastic parts. The suction is very weak on this vacuum. Not only is the suction not as strong as I had hoped it would be, the battery life is also low. After using it briefly to test it out, (with a full battery), the next tine I went to use it, the battery was already starting to fail. I'm not sure why the battery didn't hold the charge since it wasn't being used, but it only lasted for about 10 minutes. I thought I can use it for the car, as it more convenient then bringing an extension cord outside, but it's not strong enough for what I need it for. Disappointed... ... show more

The vacuum arrived and wow, we were very pleased at the size/compactness of the unit. The manufacturer provides not only the 20V battery, but the battery charger as well. This makes for a great value as if you have to purchase separately, these accessories can be pricey. The battery was fully charged and we used it for about 35 minutes. The vacuum did not get excessively warm and the suction is quite strong, picking up most everything on the floor. As it is quite warm now, we won't be able to comment on how it picks up ash from the fireplace. But, we ordered accessories for it (extension tubes, upholstery head, wood floor brush, etc.) and will be using this around the house as well as in our camper and cars. That is the best part of this machine, you can use it for many things and because it is cordless, it makes any job a lot faster! ... show more

I use my Traeger and charcoal grills a lot, so this vacuum helps a lot. I loved the cordless features and the strong metal body. It works really well including to clean out my solo stove fire pit. Big time addition to the backyard gear.
