  • Some things to be aware of
Color: Espresso
EDIT October 2023: The unit started throwing an error code E4, which is an issue with the heater element. Fairly confident this is a planned obsolescence defect, as multiple people are reporting the same error after some time. Chances are it's a flaw in the design of the system - since you can't use distilled water, if you're in an area where the tap water is horrible, it may be building up residue and/or damaging the unit. (The reason it can't use distilled is that the unit uses sensors to detect particles in the water.) LG provides no simple online way to get service; they will basically refuse BBB and the Attorney General. A lawsuit may be your only recourse when this issue affects you - because it will almost always happen outside of your warranty. EDIT September 2022: tested the drying function with a basic bedsheet hung hammock style. Not impressed; it was about 85% dry. Certainly not better than my dryer, and the dryer isn't even running full power (the home doesn't have the right outlet). Pathetic. But the lack of tumbling might help preserve some clothes. I tried one of my throwback 70s shirts, and it dried impressively; but that was 2 hours later. So...if you don't line dry anymore, this isn't bad for delicate or fragile clothing types where the dryer might damage them. EDIT August 2022: So I ran a few things through. PANTS: no matter what type of pant I put in it including PJs, they came out certainly fresher than when it went in plus seemed to be able to get rid of wrinkles easier than shirts. This is just hanging them, not using the press. The press did a passable job with creasing. T-SHIRTS: almost to a T (no pun intended) they came out vastly superior to when they went in as far as wrinkles. Odors - maybe 90% removed. TOWELS: Was very impressed here. All towels came out better than they came in with the exception of my oldest towel (we're talking since childhood) that has an underlying odor that nothing can seem to get rid of. It fluffed the towels perfectly, even better than my dryer, not one wrinkle to be seen. FYI, you hang the towels, not use the rack. BEDSHEETS: Did reasonably good. I hung them up hammock style with two hangers and they came out decently good. 90% odor removal. With respect to fabric-specific wrinkles and odor removal: POLYESTER: worked very well. SATIN: worked very well. COTTON BLEND: worked reasonably well. 100% COTTON: Not impressed. For better results I do use Dryel's Odor/Wrinkle Releasing spray. ---ORIGINAL REVIEW with minor corrections--- First it's large. Imagine a thin refrigerator; that's what you have here. I wouldn't call it excessively heavy; a single person can push it to a different room and/or tip it for a dolly. The problem is that it's hard to move it unless you push from front. I wish it had locking wheels. There's a few warnings and in response to some of the other reviews: 1. In the booklet it said not to put this in a room that has a large amount of humidity. It specifically targeted bathrooms. However, even the laundry room might end up with higher humidity. It seems as though they designed it to be in a closet, the problem is how tall it is - most closet hanger rails are right where the top of this would be. I also have a hallway closet that looked perfect, but it's like half an inch too wide for that closet. So right now I'm using a spare bedroom to get around this need to avoid humidity. 2. Getting it set up on ThinQ (The mobile app) was a picky, buggy experience. The function button wouldn't respond until I killed the app and went back in. The only reason I needed it was to download a new cycle for jackets. 3. The booklet says NOT to use distilled water. I saw a few reviewers that used distilled, so that means they didn't read the book. It seems like they're using sensors to test the minerals in water to know what the water level is at any time - referring to the internal tank - because it otherwise can't "see" anything. Would have preferred something that used pressure sensor or something else so that distilled could be used safely, due to sediment build up over time (and required cleaning) 4. There's a different water reservoir that you can't see. I filled up the visible water tank, started a cycle, checked in 10 minutes later and it claimed to have no water (which I confirmed). It was fine after the second fill. Strange on that. Outside of this, in terms of performance: I think a lot of people are fixated on the wrinkles. Understand: shaking a thing isn't going to do much. To really get wrinkles out, you either need to press it or stretch it. You can use wrinkle release sprays to help some of this, but ultimately, if it doesn't press and it doesn't stretch, you're not fully getting rid of wrinkles. But I did notice that it really does depend on the fabrics. A satin shirt didn't get rid of wrinkles hardly at all, but it did the best job for odor removal. Whereas one of the polyester shirts did an amazing job with wrinkles and odors. Cotton was about 90% with odor and wrinkle removal. ... show more

  • LG not standing behind this shoddy product
Color: Mirror
LG is refusing to repair, replace or refund a new LG Styler, less than 6 months old, delivered in November 2023. 45 days after delivery, the Styler started tripping the GFCI on the circuit it was attached to. This GFCI and circuit operates fine with other electrical equipment. A technician was called out, identified an issue causing surges and ground faults in the Styler, and replaced a part. Two weeks later the same ground fault issue started again. Having failed to find another techinican (they forwarded the case to a technician not trained on Stylers, who naturally declined to help), they are now refusing to further repair, replace or refund the less-than-six-month old unit. ... show more
