  • Easy to install and set up, works reliably
Style: Dimmer
I have an older (1964) home, and most of the switches do not have neutral wires. I had set up and was pleased with a Leviton smartplug and Anywhere switch, so I bought two of these dimmers. They works with my low voltage track lighting and LED bulbs perfectly, no flicker at all. The switches are responsive, and dimming smooth. The app works well, and is well designed. Integration with with Google, Alexa, and SmartThings is seamless. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Great No Neutral Wire
Style: Switch
First Impression: I’ve tried a few no neutral wire switches and had used Phillips hue for a while as well. This is the only switch I’ve seen that only needs a ground wire to work and the great think about that is ground wires should be in almost every house and for those that don’t have them everywhere (like my house), a ground wire is significantly easier to install then a neutral wire or capacitor. This installs super quickly and easily and works well! I’ve only just installed this yesterday so I’ll try to remember to come back to give a review after I’ve used it longer. I have used the switches with neutral wires from them as well as other accessories and they have been great so I expect to find little to no issues with this and if there are any (given it’s a brand new product), I’m sure they’ll address them. Update: I’ve now had these for a couple months. I have had a couple issues but maintain the 5 star review for two main reasons. The issues were somewhat expected as it was a new product, but after working with the support team they were able to resolve my issues. They were very helpful and I’m happy with both the service they provided and how the products work now that I’ve resolved my issues with the support team. The main issue I was having was with regard to connecting to companion switches. There were firmware updates needed that the switches didn’t recognize were needed. I believe what ended up fixing the issue was factory resetting the hub, followed by factory resetting the switch. ... show more

  • No direct access for Hubitat, terribly slow responses, disconnecting switches
Style: Switch
I unfortunately need "No Neutral" switches/dimmers for my house and there aren't many options. Lutron's devices are dimming and will not work with some LED lights, so my 2nd choice was Leviton. My hoime automation is based on Hubitat and all other devices I use can be controlled locally and don't depend on the internet. Leviton however decided that their proprietary access to the devices cannot be direct, but one has to use their cloud service to control all Leviton switches. Bad idea as the responsiveness with the Hubitat device manager is terrible. Sometimes immediately, sometimes it takes up to 20 seconds for a switch to change. Even with their proprietary app, it sometimes takes several seconds. Not good, and I have a very fast 1 Gbit internet connection and the Leviton hub is right beside the Wifi router. Bottom line - if Leviton would open up their devices for a better and direct control without having to use their cloud "solution", these would be great. With the way they are today, I would not buy them again and rather switch out all non-dimmable LED lights and use Lutron dimmers. After 6 months, I now have switches disconnecting from the hub and the switching via the app takes 5-10 seconds. DO NOT BUY JUNK LIKE THIS WHERE YOU HAVE TO RELY ON A PATHETIC SERVICE DELIVERED (NOT...) BY THE MANUFACTURER!!! ... show more

  • Leviton DN15S-2RW Decora Smart No-Neutral 15A Switch
Style: Switch
This product fills a niche in smart home switches - an on/off switch that doesn't require a neutral. I have a house full of competitor Lutron's Caseta line, and Lutron only offers no neutral for their dimmers. I installed this switch at the top of my basement stairs where dimming is not needed. I like the form factor of this switch - a very intuitive paddle switch that matches any standard "Decora" switch. There is a small green LED "pilot" light on the switch, which can be turned off in the app if used in a bedroom where the LED could be annoying in a dark room. The toggle "clicks" nicely and offers positive and intuitive feedback as to the switch position versus the mushy Caseta switches (and yes I know Lutron has started redesigning their smart switches, but one Tech YouTuber already called them out for the mushiness of their new paddle style switches). I've become increasingly frustrated with Lutron's mushy Caseta/Pico controls - frustrating to push an on/off button and have it be nonresponsive despite hearing it click. Like most of these switches, they are significantly larger than a standard toggle or paddle switch - anyone making a serious investment in smart home tech should be prepared to replace existing wall switch boxes if smart switches don't fit - removing an existing box in a finished wall can be accomplished without tearing out finished walls - there are plenty of deep "old work" boxes out there that are an easy retrofit and will offer plenty of additional wire box fill capacity - just make sure the depth of the new box is compatible with the depth of the existing hole for the old box. This switch will require Leviton's proprietary WiFi bridge, but it's reasonably priced and I like the small inconspicuous form factor - I have mine plugged in to a power strip in my media closet where a couple other smart home hubs reside. I docked a star for two reasons - the switch disconnected overnight the day after I installed it and needed to be paired again - that seems to have been a fluke, and the switch remains connected almost a week later. The second issue is that the switch can not be used to initiate an Alexa routine - this holds true for Lutron's Caseta line as well, and I can't help but think that this is a strategic decision on both company's part to keep people locked in to their proprietary apps and hubs. I have a number of TP-Link dimmers and on/off switches that can be used to initiate Amazon routines. My hope for this switch was that I could use it to trigger a couple of smart bulbs installed in pull chain fixtures in the basement to turn on with the other bulbs controlled by the smart switch at the top of the stairs, negating the need to walk down into a partially dark basement to switch on pull chain lights. I'm a bit mystified why these Leviton smart switches haven't gained more traction - they are cheaper than Lutron and the switches themselves are far more intuitive - Leviton also offers an "Anywhere Switch" which acts like a Lutron Pico remote but in a more traditional form factor - the "Anywhere Switch" appears to sit a bit prouder off a wall when installed as a purely wireless remote (no wall box), but to me that's a small tradeoff for a better form factor. These Leviton switches have me rethinking my investment in Lutron Casetas - while I may keep the Casetas, I suspect any new additions of no-neutral switches will be Levitons. ... show more
