OLD REVIEW: This dock works fine, if you aren’t using this on a 2020 MacBook Pro or air model. I thought this dock would have terminating proxies, nope! For those unaware, the 2020 air and pro models have usb issues where usb 2.0 devices will randomly disconnect throughout the day when plugged into a dock or hub. Imagine taking a test or quiz and all of a sudden..*disconnect*. This happens to me at least 10 times a day, sometimes more. That said, use this dock if you have a 2019 MacBook Pro or older; the usb issues aren’t in those models. As for the dock itself: Great packaging! The dock feels very high quality! I wish I could use this; I will have to return this unfortunately since this dock does not solve the usb disconnecting issues in the 2020 MacBook pros. UPDATE: Edit: Apple has since fixed this issue in the latest macOS Catalina 10.15.6 update. This dock will work just fine! They fixed the USB 2.0 device disconnecting problem. This is a good little docking station. I teach online, and I need multiple USB ports (I need at least 3 usb-3 ports) as well as an Ethernet port. This has done a great job so far. It is able to run my external camera, iPad as a second screen, my headphones, and my mouse. The Ethernet works well. This is a good docking station. The PD pass through works great (when properly powered). No noticeable latency through HDMI, ethernet, usb peripherals. It stays cool. One minor note. I was issued a dell Latitude 5400 for work and I found that I couldn't get the VPN software supplied (Cisco AnyConnect) to connect while plugged into the dock. This was true whether or not I was trying to use ethernet. Strangely, I can connect to the VPN and once connected, plug into the dock and it doesn't break the connection. I had been able to connect to other VPNs (NordVPN) with a different laptop while docked, so it seems to be something about the combination of the Dell laptop, Cisco AnyConnect, and the dock. I'm noting this not because I think it is the fault of the dock, but in case someone else encounters this they have a possible resolution. ... show more

    • Excellent Product and Customer Service but Replacement Died After 4 Days

I had bought this initially to go with my new 2020 MacBook Air since the MacBook did not contain enough ports to handle all my USB devices and wired network. Since I do a lot of video podcasts reliability, speed, and convenience is critically important to me. Initially I liked the device but I kept having intermittent connectivity issues. At the same time the MacBook Air also began to overheat. It was difficult for me to know what was causing the garbled sound and video and intermittent connectivity loss. So I returned both the MacBook Air after reading about the overheating and also the Lention USB hub. This is where the Lention hub company's excellent customer service kicked in. Even though I told them I had returned the device, they insisted on sending me a new one for free because they were confident it should work for me. Well they are right. I tried the hub they sent and it provides the amazing convenience of a single USB-C connection to my new Dell laptop. Although my Dell laptop has many more ports and I could do without the hub, the convenience of a single connection to my HDMI monitor, wired network line, and 4 USB devices with 2 more USB ports free to connect more devices is terrific. I did a complex podcast yesterday with a condenser microphone and a whole bunch of things connected and everything worked flawlessly. Even though the price is around $70, lower priced devices simply did not work well for me (I have several of those). Most of those stress the USB-C port with their weight making me afraid that it might eventually damage the port. Since this device rests on the table and connects with a light cable, there is no weight stress on the port. Superior customer service has always been important to me and I feel this company stands behind its product. I think anyone buying this will enjoy using it due to the convenience. There is no latency in the audio or video transmission. If I experience anything different, I will update. Right now I am very happy with the performance of this device. Thanks to the excellent customer service I feel motivated to leave this review. P.S. I am not using the power port on this as I had been with the MacBook. because this laptop has a different type of power port. Update: 9/2/2020 - I am changing my review from 5 stars to 1 star because after working fine for 4 days the product simply died. I changed to another laptop, rebooted many things, disconnected. Nothing works. It is dead and Windows does not recognize it as a USB device anymore. Contacted support and they asked me to reboot everything. Well - I had done that but I did it again to humor the vendor. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this product. I have gone back to another device which does not have as many ports or a built-in ethernet port. So it is not as convenient but at least the other product has been working now for more than 2 months or so. ... show more

    • The last dock/dongle I’ll have to buy for my Mac

I’ve had to replace dozens of the USB-C to HDMI + USB-A + Ethernet dongles for me and my employees. The problem (with those other designs) is that the short cord gets a short and the whole thing has to be replaced. But this one has a replaceable cord. Another benefit of that is that you don’t have to run all your peripheral cords to a dongle that is 6 inches from your computer. You can have all those cords hidden and run only the one cord from this dock. The only problem I’ve had is that even though it does charge my MacBook Pro at 100W, sometimes my Mac just refuses to charge from it. I blame Apple for that. ... show more

When I first received this product I was happy with everything but the thunderbolt wire would come in and out of my Mac a little too easily, causing some connectivity issues with certain devices. Customer service actually reached out to ME after I purchased the product to make sure I was happy with my purchase and I told them about my issue. They promptly sent me a new cable and I haven't had any issues since then. Great product but the customer service is what makes this product a great purchase. ... show more
