I ordered this collar without much thought to the length of it. I somewhat assumed it would fit my pit's neck. Sadly, when I got this, it was just way too big for him, easily slipping over his head. This was all completely my fault of course. The collar itself is thick and sturdy and very well made. It would have looked great on him, and would have served well for our late night walks. It did not have enough holes in it for me to get it tight enough on him. But since I love the look and strength of this collar, I might just try to make another couple holes for it to fit. I have a sweet, short, one-eyed pittie who everyone thinks is a moosh. We wanted to up his cred and strike terror into the hearts of bad characters that may underestimate my boy. As you can clearly see in the before and after, he went from sweet guy to fearsome king, not to be trifled with. See? Really. Promise. Ok, so maybe this collar doesn't have magical powers and can't turn a love bug into a "bad guy beware" warrior. But, it's very thick and excellent quality. The boys and I go trail running nearly every day and are always climbing over and under things and getting into scrub. But, there isn't a scratch on this collar. Not the leather, not the bling. Although it's beefy, he's never gotten it caught. It is very substantial. The one thing I will say is that unlike almost all collars, this has the leash loop at the buckle. Most have the loop opposite the buckle because the weight of the buckle pulls it to the bottom and you want that loop on the top. Also, I think this collar might be better for dog's with longer necks just because it's so thick. It is much more comfortable on my Pointer than my low-rider pittie. ... show more

This leather dog collar is extra heavy-duty. It looks as if it is made for harnessing small dragons, making it perfect for my Rottweiler, LOL. It is made of thick leather and is extra heavy-duty. That said, it is soft and pliable. The non-sharp studs add a nice look. The collar is very well-sewn with double stitching and heavy thread, and all of the fasteners and hoops are solid metal. The eyelets allow for a large range of adjustments. In short, this collar will last for years and looks great. The average collar is some sort of bright color and often a bland nylon material. This one stands out from the crowd! Rich, quality leather with a very attractive design. The jeweled pieces are firmly fastened to the leather. The buckle works well and there are plenty of holes to fit the neck comfortably. The metal of the buckle is sturdy and shows no marks or scratches (however that could change after a few scratches behind the ear!).
