I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and effectiveness of this product. I have three large bedroom windows that previously required a very long and heavy blackout curtains that were never flush against them and light often came in from above the window and between the panels. I was ready to give in for expensive window treatments with a better fit. Sure, these are cheap and you have to roll them on your own. I had low expectations but these are so much better than the paper products and also absorb heat as my room is east facing and stays cool. My sleep quality has improved especially with the sun rising earlier. I think they look better and more sleep than traditional brackets or rods. The adhesive is easily replaced as it can start to slip in the warmer weather. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. ------ why i was looking for this product----- I live on campus in an apartment right by some frat and sorority houses. I underestimated how loud they would get on the weekends and even the middle of the week. I thought I'd get a head start before they all come back from winter break to make some changes to avoid some of their nuisances; one of these being the lights. The street lights are on anyway, but when they party the lights from their buildings and leds shine into my window. I live in the basement part of my complex so my window is high up and there's really no way to completey block the light. The cops also come very often because of underage drinking, noise, or just general problems that go on during their parties. So I also have to deal with the bright cop lights . ---- why this?----- I saw this product during my search for a curtain. Im not allowed to drill holes or even use adhesive or tape here, but we use command strips anyway. I was going to get adhesive curtain rod holders, a curtain, and a rod, but there's not much space or flat area to place it on my windows. It's also above my bed and I didn't want to get wacked in the head if it happened to fall. This product looked easy to place, was affordable, and looked like an actual black out curtain. ---- application---- It was super easy to install. I didn't have fabric scissors but my regular cheap scissors worked fine to cut this. My scissors glided smoothly during the cuts. I will note that I didn't notice one of the rods was bigger than the others, so I taped two together. I was about to tape the 3rd when i realized it just slides in. So i took the tape off and just slid the two smaller ones into the bigger one. The velcro was very easy to install and sticks great! I was worried it wouldnt stick well on my window because 1) the wall is cold from the snow, and 2) there's no flat space. It wasn't a problem and the curtain adhered just fine. ----- use ----- The clips work perfectly for holding the curtain when you roll it up. The light is completely blacked out. I included a video to compare my two windows. I only bought 1 to test it but now that I know what a great product it is, I'll be ordering a 2nd one for my other window. I got this one on sale for $13 but it was originally $19. Either way, the value matches the price, and its a great solution for anyone looking for a cheap but quality fix to light blockage. ... show more

Last update… So I’ve had it with this! Just keeps falling. I even stapled the velcro to the inside of the window so now the shade is unsticking itself from the other piece of velcro. I think if there was better adhesive it would work. Like I said below it’s goopy. If it touches anything like the fabric when it falls it’ll leave a sticky spot. The only other solution is to sew on the other piece of velcro to the material so now I’m at the point if I have to do all this work I might as well make my own. Update… So a couple of hours after my review the shade started to come unstuck from the window and the velcro strip was a little off like slid out of place on the shade side. It is super sticky but perhaps to goopy like so it slides and then falls off. I’ll figure out a solution. Possibly tack it since it can’t be seen anyways. 2 hours earlier…So I did expect a little more in quality because of the price but I am really pleased with it. I already have wood blinds in my window and needed something behind it to block out the light to sleep and cut out some draft when cold. It’s great for my need. It’s a simple piece of material with a black backing, a strip of velcro to mount it, and two clips to keep it rolled up. Simple! My only hope is that if it’s two layers of material they stay together in the future unless maybe it’s a coating on the back. Hard to tell. It’s very easy to roll up by hand. Ideally it would be nice to have a string but I’m fine with it. I wanted something simple without bulk and without worry of some mechanical failure in the future like roller shades happen to me all the time. It’s really easy to let down. I’m only using one clip, it works just fine. For me it was worth the purchase. ... show more

Self explanatory to set up, but the sticky part of the Velcro is notttt great. It started falling here and there so I just used my own glue and it’s been up ever since. Definitely blacks out a room and the clips work great.

Was installed in just a few minutes. Does a great job. It is installed beneath my mini-blinds in the photo. At the bottom, you can see the difference in light filtration, as I have the shade rolled higher than the blind. This window gets a lot of afternoon sun normally, but with the shade, the room is much cooler and darker. I did not cut mine because it was only 1" wider than the window and the extra 1/2 inch covered the frame gap very well. Since the roller bar is adjustable, it did not interfere with function. The fabric is soft on one side and reflective on the other, making it clear which is which. The velcro adhesive is strong. Overall a very nice product. I bought the black and ivory. ... show more
