    • Fairly easy to set up

This is a great starter engraver for someone like me who is new to laser engraving. It's relatively easy to set up, if you are patient and take it one-step-at-a-time. I think it took a little under an hour. It's not too big but also not to small, so you'll need a dining room table or empty office desk space ( about 3'by 3' ) Supposedly you can get an enclosure, but I didn't. I was able to test it for engraving little metal plates I ordered through Amazon and cutting super thin wood, though it may take several attempts to burn through thicker ( yet still thin pieces ) It basically comes with everything you need to get started, except any material to engrave. Online people say you need to buy software like Lightburn to fully use it, but in it's manual ( if you can call it that ) there are various free software links and once you figure out how to download them, I was able to get good results without buying anything extra. These free options do feel a little rough around the edges, but there are plenty of YouTube videos that show you how to use them. If you're patient and willing to suffer through these video tutorials, you can figure out how to make it work with excellent results. A caveat, it is a burning laser, so when doing wood, you don't want it near a smoke alarm! But in the end, I'm pretty happy with it, it seems to get the job well done quite well and accurately, which is what matters in the end. ... show more

***UPDATE*** Company's customer service reached out after I posted my review. I explained the whole situation and worked to trouble-shoot the first machine. They immediately shipped a new machine. It did arrive (I haven't had a chance to open it due to being out of town). While I appreciate the company’s eventual response and the replacement product, I am disappointed that it took a negative review to get their attention. Customer service should be more accessible and responsive from the start. I hope moving forwards, this will be the case. No support. Machine did not work properly from the beginning. I emailed the company support on the website. I emailed through Amazon. I called Amazon and asked them to connect me. They told me they could not help me because they were not able to connect with Laser Tree. I received this machine and really wanted this machine to work. Got it set up, ready to do power/cutting tests and ... The machine quit 30 sec into a job. I purchased a new a/b cable. (Someone on Reddit had said that was their issue.) Didn't help. Homing was a noisy nightmare. Checked the software. I followed all the trouble shooting on the website. I searched forums on Reddit. I came back to Amazon and tried to contact Laser Tree for help. No response. The product listing had been removed. It was not back on until AFTER the return by date so I could do nothing to get any help. I am not new to lasers. I have several including CO2 and diodes. I have 3d printers and CNC. I troubleshoot all the time. I am not a beginner user. I use Lightburn software for my lasers. $$ down the drain with a non-working machine sitting here. I want a new machine or my money back. Contact me for more info. ... show more

    • Good entry level cutter
Size: LT-K1 MINI 10W
As an entry level laser this is a decent machine to start with and includes most of what you need to get underway. At 10W don't expect to get deep cuts in wood, though eventually with enough passes you can get through some thicknesses such as 1/4". Also, since this is a diode laser, don't expect to do much of anything with acrylic. Laser Tree properly represents this as a beginners laser bit you will still need to buy software for your computer to turn designs into engravable patterns. Those isn't really a hidden cost as all lasers require similar software. my recommendation is to use Lightburn software. It can be difficult to reach the full working range of the laser (300mm^2) so if you need to cut sizes i. that neighborhood regularly it might be better to opt for one of their larger models. Finally, while it might seem that you can use this indoors, that's only possible if you set up a separate ventilation system that can expel air through a window, otherwise you could set off smoke alarms indoors. I have an enclosure with ventilation outside in order to use indoors. Best used in a garage or outdoor space. Overall good entry level laser and most accessories are included such as safety glasses and work plates to get you started. ... show more

This is super easy to set up and takes about 30 to 40 minutes. It takes up most of my diningroom table and fit an enclosure I already had perfectly. It works just fine with my lightburn software and has been working great for engraving and cutting wood for my projects.
