The cooling feature I really like on this IPL device. Overall its pretty simple to operate and the included instructions are legible. The one thing I will point out and its stated in the description but not clear from the pics. This is not wireless, it must be plugged in to use.

These units are weak, under-powered, and ineffective. Look for a unit that clearly states the output in Joules. Also, I purchased 2 units and the flash window measurement is not identical. One has a smaller light area than the other, and both are much too small to effectively cover a large area in minimal time. Look elsewhere for an IPL hair removal device. The media could not be loaded. Having never done laser hair removal therapy (at-home or professional), the first thing I did (after unboxing this product and checking out the accessories, etc.) was read the manual. I quickly realized that this was a serious device that needed to be used correctly to avoid some potentially serious risks. Okay, fine. But I soon found that the instructions were very confusing and a bit scary, causing me to give up on the idea of actually trying this device out. Below is a more thorough review of what I liked about the device and the issues I had with the instructions...I'm only sorry that I can't review how effective the device ultimately is! Pros: This device feels substantial and not cheaply made. It's comfortable to hold and comes with the glasses you need to protect your eyes from the flashes and a basic plastic razor. I also think that the price seems reasonable for a device of this kind. And, while the manual has a LOT of issues (see below), at least it's of a good size, with legible print and some illustrations (although those aren't all accurate, unfortunately). Cons: The biggest con is the confusing, and somewhat scary, instructions (see accompanying images of the issues below). Here are some examples... > The manual talks about how the device has a built-in refrigeration technology to feel "ice comfortable," but, later in the instructions, it takes about applying ice while doing the hair removal. Huh? > It also recommends removing any hair longer than 1mm with a "hair knife"...do they mean a razor? (I googled "hair knife," but the results just confused me more.) > The instructions related to the ambient temperature were very confusing (especially the second highlighted one, which used a measurement I didn't understand at all). > In the display illustration, it says that the display shows the "number of flashes." This number is almost all 9s across the board when you turn the device on, so I'm thinking maybe it's a countdown of some kind, but for what....the number you have left before needing to recharge? The maximum number of flashes it's safe to use in one sitting? There's nothing in the rest of the manual that makes reference to that... > Also, the pictures of the display in the manual don't match the actual display and the button the manual tells you to press to cycle through the settings doesn't match which button you need to use on the actual service to do that... compare the pages in the manual to the video I provided to see what I mean. > Later, it says that if the skin turns red after hair removal, "use the nursing mode for nursing"? What "nursing mode"? There's nothing else in the instructions that references that and I don't understand that info at all. > The manual info is also inconsistent...on one page it says it is "forbidden" to expose the hair removal area to the sun for 48 hours, but, on the next page, it says not to expose it for 24 hours. Which is it? The final potential "con" is that this device can only be used on people who have both dark hair and skin no darker than "medium brown." However, this may be more of a limitation on laser hair removal in general than with this device in specific. So, if you're already very familiar with using a similar device, you might want to give this one a try, but, if you're a newbie, like me, it's hard for me to recommend it. Because of my inability to test the device's effectiveness, and based on the pros and cons I listed above, I figured a 3-star rating was a fair compromise. Had I actually purchased this and not gotten it via the Vine review program, I'd be returning it, since there's no way I'd feel comfortable using it with the provided instructions. ... show more
