Great digital clock. The very large dimensions of this clock along with the related large time, date and temperature characters make it perfect for 'across the room' placement. Its smallest characters can be comfortably read from a distance of 16' and the 4½" time digits would be readable across an aircraft hanger. I live on the eastern edge of the service range of the Boulder, CO low frequency transmission site (~2,000 mi) and my clock receives the transmission signal from the NIST 'atomic clock' without problem. It hangs about 7' off the floor and oriented E-W (as recommended by LaCross) with a masonry (brick) exterior wall on its west side. It took the clock one overnight cycle to get the first signal - and has been connected ever since (a month). The advantage of the clock, of course, is extremely accurate time (<1") that updates daily from the atomic clock, Low Frequency transmission. Switched to DST (Daylight Saving Time) the clock will also update at the seasonal start and stop times and the day & date are perpetual. If you have the need for easy view-ability, very accurate time, or automatic updating, or all three... this is one very good choice. 03/08/2015 Update: automatically adjusted itself for daylight saving time without issue, still keeping 'perfect' time. ... show more

I bought this clock for my uncle with Alzheimer's so he could know the date and day of the week. It is great! It is easy to read with large numbers and letters, easy to program time zones and the atomic clock means he never has to set it to daylight savings. We liked it so much I bought another for myself and my mother wants one too. ... show more

This LaCrosse Atomic Wall Clock with large display is based on dated but practical design sold by many manufacturers over the decades. My last clock of exact design sold for $20 at Costco by Sky Scan. Controls are exactly the same. In reality this proves useful and practical. What really works is the setup for location and DST. It does take a couple of hours to sync with the Federal Weather & Atomic Time service. A bother for those impatient to wait and place on the wall. I’d advise to do the setup and put the lock in a location that receives the tower signal visible on the clock. Then take a break, read a book or whatever. It took my clock approximately 2 hours utilizing the Pacific mountainous, oceanic area that I live. Now it it works flawlessly. ... show more

    • Not perfect, but useful a large time display and atomic clock setting feature
In case others are interested: Ours lasted 3 years to the week. The LCD display slowly faded away and now does not display at all. Over the years, it was reliable around 90% of the time. A set of batteries lasted months each go, and I only had to take it outside to reset the time once in a while. Not perfect, but having a large time display and atomic clock setting feature is great. It's our third La Crosse clock in this location and each lasted a few years. So we have an expectation of such clocks lasting a few years then gong out to pasture. ----- Quick update: I opened up the clock and found that the wire connection from the main electronic board to the batteries had corroded and come apart. I plan to solder it back. Pretty sure it will work again. ... show more

    • Stuck in Central Time Zone
The media could not be loaded. “WARNING” don’t buy this clock. I bought this clock in November 2020 and it worked great for a couple of months. Now, no matter how we try to fix/set it, the clock is stuck in Central Time and as you can see by the clock, we live in Eastern Time. We set the correct time and then at the stroke of midnight, we are an hour behind. I love this clock in my kitchen but now I am out $84.00 for buying it and have to shop for a new clock. ... show more

    • High visibility, no futzing around with time setting
Bought this for someone else, so have not actually used it myself, but the recipient was very pleased with it. (our local Knights of Columbus hall) Installed in the bar area, it's large enough to see from a distance, and the atomic function means no futzing around with resetting for the ridiculous practice of daylight savings time. (which I wish we'd scrap altogether.) Bar manager says they've received many compliments and requests about it, so I guess it's safe to say this clock is a hit! **************** UPDATE October 2015************************ Well, this item bit the dust.... be aware that if the clock is at home/business in an area that has poor signal reception, the automatic time-keeping feature will not adjust. Sooo, this clock was removed from the wall and taken outside for a better signal, (this is a steel building) and Butterfingers dropped it. Moral of the story: If you are jazzed about the atomic feature, make sure you have signal reception. Otherwise, be prepared to move the clock about, and don't drop it. ... show more

    • Ginormous time
This clock is fantastic. It's huge. I can easily see it from across the house. I bought one for my elderly Mom, and she loves it. I then bought one for myself, and the same. Setup was trivial. I put the batteries in, put it on the wall, and it synced up in a few minutes. Previous clocks that I have purchased have not been able to sync until the middle of the night when reception is better. I've only had it for a short while, so cannot speak to its longevity, but it has me happy at this time. And friends have asked about it, wanting to buy one for themselves. ... show more
