For optimum 433MHz transmission, place the outdoor sensor no more than 300 feet (91 meters, open air) from the weather station Explanation: The factory restart returns the weather station and remote sensor to an “out-of-the-box” default state and often resolves an issue. Factory Restart: 1. Remove all power (batteries and AC) from remote sensor and weather station. 2. Press one of the buttons on the weather station at least 20 times to clear all memory. 3. Do not press buttons for 15 minutes. • For optimum 433MHz transmission, place the remote sensor no more than 330 feet (100 meters, open air) from the weather station. Note: In Mounting/Positioning Remote sensor First: Place the remote sensor in the desired shaded location and the weather station in the home. Wait approximately 1 hour before permanently mounting the remote sensor to ensure that there is proper reception. POSITION Outdoor: • Protect the remote sensor from standing rain or snow and from the overhead sun, which can cause it to read incorrectly. • Mounting under an eave or deck rail works well. • If you choose, you can construct a small roof or box for the remote sensor. Be sure a box has vents. • Mount the remote sensor on the North side where to prevent sun from causing incorrect readings. • Mount at least 6 feet in the air for a strong RF (radio frequency) signal. • Do not mount the remote sensor on a metal fence. This significantly reduces the effective range. • Remote sensors are water resistant, not waterproof

  • La Crosse Indoor outdoor station
Big enough, and bright enough, to read from anywhere in the room. Appreciate the full color screen, indoor, and outdoor are separately color coded! I keep subconsciously expecting the indoor side of the screen to be on the left for some reason. The high/low screen brightness is awesome! makes a great nightlight in the kitchen if you have it plugged in as i do. Screw-head mounts in the back, as well as a kickstand(which isn't confidence inspiring) Atomic clock can take some time to activate, so plug it in and put it in a west facing window for a bit to get the signal. While i don't expect ill need another, i would certainly highly recommend this unit. 2 Month update: The unit is still performing flawlessly, and the atomic clock is still accurate with my other atomic clock, and that's getting signal from the far side of the fridge. The lithium batteries in the remote are still good to go. 1 year later . . . . . . . . Still performs flawlessly, and the same lithium batteries are still in the outside unit, the only thing that has changed is the temperature! And it still messes me up that that outside is on the left, inside on the right. As always, i purchased this with my own hard earned money. ... show more

  • AWESOME Weather station
This is what i want it for a long time!!!! Pros: - Very easy to read information during the day or at night - Works plugged in and also with batteries - Accurate readings most of the time - Easy to follow instructions - 2 AA batteries are required for the sensor - Very cool Animated Forecast background Cons: - None so far Overall we like this unit at home, we are able to see the outdoor and indoor temperatures at a glance. It helps us predict what we can expect for the day!!! I know we all have smartphones and we can get the weather updates that way buy having it hanging on your wall or just displayed on a table makes it so much easier and at the same time looks great. My 6 year learned to tell us the weather on a daily basis, great way to teach your kids My friend thought it was a high end weather station, i mean PRICE wise jajaaja he went ahead and purchased one after checking the price. ****Quick note**** I applied clear tape all around the wireless sensor that is setup outside my door just to prevent any water getting into the unit, BE CAREFUL NOT to tape the actual sensor opening i left that open for obvious reasons!!! • Outstanding!
If you REALLY want to know what the weather is going to be like, ask an old guy with injuries from younger years. I guarantee he'll know a whole lot better than forecaster's or this thing!! Yep, my shoulders hurt like H***.......it's gonna rain. Man, my knee is total crap today.....guess a snow storm is on the way. I replaced a very old Atmoix clock, where the outdoor sensor went bad. This LaCrosse weather station.clock - Excellent - SUPER simple setup if you have ever set up one of these before......even if you haven't, it's easy. Out of the box I spent no more than 3-5 minutes putting batteries in, setting a screw into the wall, prepping the outdoor sensor, setting all the parameters...time/date/daylight savings, CST time zone, etc. It's nice and bright when plugged in. Everything worked within minutes. I did not setup alerts for temps or storms. I have a weather radio for that. I would buy another if I needed one. POSITIVE: - Clean, bright display when plugged in - Multi-color is nice for separation of different displays - Easy setup - Time is accurate - Temp/humidity is reasonably accurate (1-2 degrees is acceptable) NEGATIVE: - Not much! With the realization that it is a 'tendency", it says it is going to rain a LOT more than it actually is. - I know this is supposed to be more of a weather station than a clock, but the time/date is pretty small. It's hard to read from a distance. If they switched the weather tendency display with the clock display, it would be easier to read......oh well. It's a great little unit overall. ... show more

  • Outdoor humidity reading on the item they sent, and customer technical support (probably for all customers) are both useless
From the date of putting the batteries in the outdoor sensor. The batteries were added in the house fresh immediately on the unit's unpacking from its box. No rain had therefore fallen on the outdoor sensor, which had never even been outdoors. The outdoor humidity indicated on the sensor at unpacking was 19%, way off (probably 40% off) from what it actually was. 3 weeks later it was giving the same reading. I called technical assistance and got no help at all. From their point of view the problem was all our fault, and if one explanation of why that was so did not cut it, they had plenty of others. First they said I had the wrong or old batteries. I did not. Next they said that it takes about a week for the outdoor humidity reading to adjust and kick in. It had been at least 2, probably 3 weeks, when I called. Finally they said that placing the outdoor sensor other than under an eve meant that it quickly degraded. While the installation instructions said such placement was "preferable", they did not say the sensor would not work otherwise. They did not offer any possibility of replacement of this unit, which in the few weeks we owned it never worked as advertised. In fact, when I suggested I might as well buy another company's product and start again, they seemed fine with that. Bottom line: don't buy this! ... show more
