  • Super sharp, smaller blades easier to trim in tight spots
My hands are on the smaller side, so these are really comfortable for me to use. The black shears have a super comfy padded grip - the lock on it is a little tricky to get right, but not too bad. All three seem pretty durable and good quality. The blades on them are VERY sharp. The gloves are a rubbery-silicone material that's super easy to wash, and the backs are meshy, so I would imagine these will be awesome in the heat of the summer - no sweaty hands. ... show more

  • Sharp and lightweight
These garden snippers are sharp, cut well, and the grips feel comfortable to me. I'd say they're designed for more modest detail pruning needs around the vegetable/fruit/flower garden. We have other larger lopper tools for bigger/tougher pruning jobs. If a limb/stem has bark on it, then a larger pruner will likely be better. One problem I've had though is the little locking lever sometimes works/flops it's way back into the locking position during operation - but it does help to flip it all the way back/up and over the pivot point rather than just letting it dangle down loose. All in all though, for the right pruning jobs these snippers are working fine for me and the included gloves were a nice bonus. ... show more

  • These work well!
I don't have particularly strong hands, and I was able to cut branches up to about 1/2" with no trouble at all with these pruning shears. I managed to cut a 1/2" branch, but I had to do it in stages, by rotating the blades around the branch. I really like the safety feature that lets you lock these closed when you're not using them, and I like the padded handles. That makes them comfortable to use for a period of time, and keeps them from slipping. The garden scissors are also going to be useful. I'm going to keep one pair in the barn for clipping baling twine and other random things that need a little more oomph than standard scissors. Again, being able to keep them closed when not in use is a great safety feature. This is a nice, versatile set, especially for the price. ... show more

  • Sticking
We got these shears to clean up our yard. I’m not sure why only worked for a little than started sticking. It makes yard work harder than it already is. Maybe I need to WD 40 it.

  • Have a feeling yard work won't be as arduous
Which is a fancy show-off word that means 'pain in the....' After several years of season-ending cleaning to rid our garden tools of dirt, wood, weeds, and invariably rust.... which leads to the irritating task of polishing/sharpening the blades...I was very attracted to new, clean, sharp ones. Stainless-steel blades!! Padded pruner handles (nice since that's the one requiring most hand pressure), improvement all around over the old ones we're tossing on next trash day. Big geek...err, fan...of little totally unnecessary/unrequired 'add-on' features I find on items: enhanced springs, 2 shears, again, the pruner handle pads, the rubber band-like straps to secure the shears (much better than typical dinky thin metal rings (prone to near-immediate rusting), and a pair of gloves. Granted, they aren't elite work gloves, only nice coated grip gloves, but were not necessary inclusion to make this a very nice/extremely affordable set....just another example of the extra thoughtful add-on I appreciate so much. ... show more

  • Quality items, work well, may not need two garden shears
My roses were due to be pruned this January so I was happy to see these shears on Vine. I have 2 older plants and two newer ones and the canes varied in size from 1/8" to almost and inch in diameter. The pruning shears handled all of the canes with ease - I had a couple that were about 3/4" to 1" and I had to cut those multiple times. The spring and locking mechanisms work fine. I appreciated the padded foam covering - my aging hands are still relatively strong, but they tire more easily. The oddity of this is that there are two of the garden shears. These work well for small canes on my blackberries, cutting Swiss chard or mustard greens, and the like. But as far as I can tell, the two are identical. As I have a garden at my condo and another garden plot in the community garden, that was helpful for me, but not sure how many people would want/need two pairs. One of the blades has a serrated edge, also, and I am not sure how easy it will be to get those sharpened. Time will tell. ... show more

  • Functionally Excellent - Good Cost Efficacy - No Issues
Functionally Excellent - The blades touch when snipping but go past each other without issue, so close as they should be. The blades are sharp enough that they cut through small branches easily. The grip on the shears is nice and foamy making for a comfortable grip. Good Features - The spring helps to make things more efficient as you do not have to open them after each snipe. The locking mechanism works for the scissors and shears to hold the blades in place closed when not in use. ... show more

  • Nice sharp blades
The blades of the pruners and garden scissors are quite sharp and do a great job of cutting. The handles of the pruners have a thick foam sleeve which make it easier on your hands when you have a lot of pruning to do. The lightweight garden scissors are good for culling seedlings when seed starting and for harvesting microgreens. I don't care for the locking lever on the pruners. I have to use the thumb of my left hand to unlock and the thumb of my right hand to lock the shears. It's also a little too easy for the lever to become unlocked when stuffing the pruning shears into my pocket. I prefer the Fiskars one-handed sliding button design which stays locked. Don't care for the rubber band design used to secure to the garden scissors. Would prefer the more durable wire design. The pruners work well. The scissors not so much. Although excellent at cutting microgreens, one of the pair tends to stick. Perhaps they will loosen up with continued use. The garden gloves are nice but too small for my long, slender hands. Overall, a nice set of low cost pruning shears and garden scissors. ... show more
